I'm using a XP computer, SP3, 1Ghz, 512mb RAM. Installed GBPVR v1.2.13 a week ago.

I "tune" my card through the capture sources part in the config. I have a usb dongle type card which is detected on the list (ZAP-E3C) and all channels are detected. EPG works, but no picture or sound in the live preview window or on the Live TV option in PXR2.

All I get is a blank screen and sometime the GBPVR icon appears.

Have attached logs in a zip file.
I have tried a variety of codecs so far. Any help appreciated.

It looks like either the recording service isnt running, or you have some firewall software getting in the way of communication between the GB-PVR processes.

I have the same USB DVB-T "zap e3c" and have the same problem (no image in preview window or any sound). After initially attempting to set it up without reading the setup instructions on this forum, I found I had already followed them virtually to the letter after I had read them...

I'm running v1.4.7. System is a dual core 64 AMD, 2.5GHz 2GB RAM with XP-SP3.

I am able to view channels using the no-name OEM s/ware that came with the device (and yes I closed that program before trying GB-PVR). Signal strength is usually around the 70 level with the OEM s/ware.

I've turned off the firewall and that made no difference, and I even tried running the OEM s/ware at the same time (which displayed "weak signal" with levels around 30).

edit: Log files zipped and attached...

edit 12 (actually I lost count): More stuffing around and I've managed to get just one particular channel displaying (jerky, with sound) in GB-PVR when the same channel is selected in the OEM s/ware simulataneously. It is not displayed in the OEM window, and when I exit the OEM s/ware, I then get a frozen image and no sound (I assume no signal) in GB-PVR... Restarting OEM continues to allow stream to work in GB-PVR... Interesting. Signal strength is 34 (in OEM) while the stream is playing through GB-PVR. When GB-PVR is closed, the stream works in OEM, with signal strength of 77...

probably need to try a different video and audio decoder

the stock advice for a known-to-work set is mpv & mpa decoders from http://www.free-codecs.com

you can also try hoborg's stand-alone-filter pack, which has a sticky in the wishlist forum.

I thought the decoding was done by the USB device? I tried changing to some of the available codecs (Nero) and there was no change. I'll download the others another time - I've spent hours trying to get this to work already, and am just going round in circles, like I always do!

No - its a capture device, not a playback device.

I think many versions of the Nero decoders refuse to hook up to outside applications like GB-PVR.

After spending the best part of today stuffing around finding and installing codecs, MediaPortal, and half a dozen other required programs etc, and following the installation instructions on the various forum and "wiki" pages, the only change is now the visual output displayed in the GB-PVR window looks like I'm seeing it through a flyscreen mesh.

Hopefully the logs will reveal something I've overlooked.

As you can see on the left side background is the OEM player screen showing "weak signal" on the same channel, and the signal strength is shown, too.
