hauppague 4000 Remote programming

Hello,

I have read a few articles about programming remote controls but they all seem to be about small parts of the process.

I wonder if anyone could give me a rundown on the basics for programming the remote that came with my hauppague 4000 to work with GB PVr. Even if its just changin it so that the power button turns my TV and computer on and the 'Home' button opens GB PVR.

If you’ve only got the ir receiver that came with your Hauppauge remote (and assuming they haven’t updated it since I got mine) then you can’t use it to turn on your computer unfortunately. To do that you need the MS IR blaster or a USB-UIRT device.

To programme buttons on the remote you need to edit the irremote.ini file found in your c:\windows directory by default. To assign one button to open up an application you need to add the command to the [default] section of that ini file. If you scroll through the file you’ll see a few examples which should give you an idea of how it works.
