I've made this sticky (closed) thread to post useful information about problems that may arise, or to get useful tips out there. I'll add more information to this thread as we start to get feedback from this new release. If anyone has info they feel should be included here, please PM me.

Recording service crashing (old, but still relevent)
NOD32, Panda Antivirus, WebRunner and Net Limiter (and some other software) are known to be incompatible with .NET 2.0 Remoting, which is used by GB-PVR. If any of these apps are installed on your machine, they will cause the Recording Service crash, so they may need to be uninstalled before installing this update. Its possible you may just be able to set an exclusion of the GBPVRRecordingService.exe process - but I'm not sure if this is possible with all these apps.

To help you identify if you have this problem, when the recording service crashes, the following message is at the end of the GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log file:

Code:
9/4/2006 3:02:39 PM.625 ERROR [7] FATAL UNHANDLED EXCEPTION:: [b]System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory[/b]. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.
at System.Net.UnsafeNclNativeMethods.OSSOCK.WSAGetOverlappedResult(SafeCloseSocket socketHandle, IntPtr overlapped, UInt32& bytesTransferred, Boolean wait, IntPtr ignored)
at [b]System.Net.Sockets.BaseOverlappedAsyncResult[/b].Compl etionPortCallback(UInt32 errorCode, UInt32 numBytes, NativeOverlapped* nativeOverlapped)
at System.Threading._IOCompletionCallback.PerformIOCo mpletionCallback(UInt32 errorCode, UInt32 numBytes, NativeOverlapped* pOVERLAP)

UPDATE: Microsoft now has a hot fix available for this common incompatibility between firewall software and the .NET 2.0 Remoting. You can read about here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923028/en-us and download the hotfix from http://www.gbpvr.com/Hotfix_Net2_KB923028.zip

Choice of MVP dongle.bin on Vista (old, but still relevent)
This release includes the Hauppauge 1.1.47 dongle.bin, which will work well for Windows XP and Windows 2000 users, but unfortunately has issues with Vista. Hauppauge are currently investigating these issues. While Hauppauge tries to sort this out, the best option for Vista users is to use the mvpmc dongle from: http://www.mvpmc.org/~mvallevand/donglex2a.zip

Download this file and extract the file to the "c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\dongle" directory, then briefly remove the power from the MVP to force it to reinitialise itself.

Making timeshift tv smoother when using TS Mux
A couple of users reported jittery playback when doing timeshift tv on digital devices with the TS Mux option. I've posted a patch here: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...stcount=10

With this patch applied, if you getting jittery playback, try increasing the live pre-play delay setting in the config app until it becomes smooth.

Music not auto-stopping when starting DVD playback
One user has reported music playback didnt stop when they started playing a DVD. A patch can be found here: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...ostcount=2. It seems to be an old bug no one noticed, but the patch may be useful for some of you.

Problems with playback or skipping in large .ts files
Several users reported issues with playback of large (4GB+) transport stream files. This problem showed up as strange timeline OSD graphics, and difficulties trying to skip within these files. A patch that resolves this issue can be found here: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...stcount=34

Digital channels might not be found on the first frequency scanned
If you find you're missing the channels from the first frequency scanned on you digital capture source, you can apply this updated config.exe: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...stcount=25
