sub Wrote:Yes, it records .ts files. It'd probably work in a client/server setup with a 'file sharing mode' client, but I havnt tested it myself.

Instead of hijacking the HD PVR thread i decided to start a new one. I am thinking about purchasing a HD PVR but since it records to a .ts file it does not work with a client in streaming mode. Sub started the above so I tried using filesharing on my existing setup but it does not work. I get a few seconds of video and the I get kicked back to the menu. I have tried changing
Code:
<ClientModeLiveTVPrePlayDelay>4000</ClientModeLiveTVPrePlayDelay>
but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Any suggestions? If not is there any hope that .ts files will be supported in client mode?

I know sub is out for work so I will bump this when he is back.

I do have a question for those with a popcorn hour. Is it a good replacement for a pc as a client? I just need to have livetv, recordings, music, moviewiz. Any functions I will lose? I do not know how the popcorn plays back live tv but would it work if I was using the HD PVR? It maybe be a while before I have the money to buy both but I am trying to figure out what is the best road to take so I can save up the money. In my current setup I have 1 client PC and a server with 6 tuners(2 pvr150mce with 2X setop box, dual adaptec 3610-analog only, and a hdhomerun-clear qam). My goal is to have up to 3 clients and maybe buy 2 HD-PVRs to replace the pvr150mce.

Have you applied the nativeutilities.dll update from the 1.3.7 survival guide thread? Without that patch it ignores the LiveTV Pre-delay setting when dealing with .ts files. Getting a few seconds of video and then bouncing back to the menu is one of the symptoms associated with that problem. It happens because the video stream is 'glitchy' and some decoders just choke and die on the bad stream.

Yes I have applied the patch but I am trying to watch a file that is a mpg so I don't think it applies. It works in streaming but I would really like to get filesharing working so I can take advantage of the new feature of being able to record multiple programs on a single QAM.

You might as well try the 'TS Mux' option then, since this is required for multi-record, and behaves quite differently to .mpg files.

I will give it a try tonight. Four of my tuners are currently analog so even using the TS Mux wouldn't have an impact on them. I did play with it some more last night . I had previously raised the Livepreplaydelay to the max of 4000 in the config on the client and this did not help. So I manually edited it in the config.xml to 6500 and it seems to be working so far. The only draw back is this crashes the config when you run it because the value is out of range. If it continues to work I can live with that.

should the live delay setting be modified on the server or the client. or both?

In my case I only changed the client. There are 2 settings
<ClientModeLiveTVPrePlayDelay> which didn't seem to effect it while using filesharing and <LiveTVPrePlayDelay> which is the one that seems to have fixed it for me.
