I have an nVidia 7900GS card with the latest drivers, and I can't run FSE mode.

It may be worth explanding on what happens when you try?

Are there any error messages in the log files when you try?

Do you even have the FSE option in config.exe ?
(I noticed it appears to have vanished from my list the other day, not that I use it on vista as EVR is more appropriate.)

I am at work, so I don't know the exact error, but something along the lines of "system is not capable of running in EVR mode"

Someone else posted the exact same error:
"sorry this system does not support the required vmr9 video render".

I do have WMP11 installed. Is there anything else I need installed?

make sure you have directx 9c onstalled

run dxdiag from command line and ensure directdraw is enabled.

ensure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card.

Actually, I have DX10 installed (because my video card supports it!) And I don't think you can go down (nor would I want to!)

I assumed from your sig that you were running xp and I wasn;t aware that dx10 was available for xp unless it was one of the hacked varieties.

so what renderer does work? VMR/VMR custom?

Let's clarify things here; are you talking about VMR9 Full Screen Exclusive (aka FSE), or are you talking about Enhanced Video Renderer (aka EVR)?

You've mentioned both.

Also, please clarify which modes DO actually work.
