I have not used this feature before, as I always have everything in a list view. But I thought it could be useful, so I put images in the folders, named them "folder.jpg" and started gbpvr, Changed to icon view - Nothing. This is Mayhem3 but there is no preview in the blue skin either.

I have looked in the log-files (attached) and two rows strikes me as interesting:
Code:
2008-11-17 21:41:36.187    VERBOSE    [1]    Skinhelper loading image from file: C:\Program\Devnz\GBPVR\skin2\Mayhem3\Video Library\..\_CoreImages\popup_mask.png
2008-11-17 21:41:36.218    VERBOSE    [1]    Unexpected error get image from callback (@previewImage): System.InvalidCastException: Det gick inte att omvandla ett objekt av typen System.String till typen GetImageCallback.
vid GBPVRX2.SkinHelper2.getNamedImage(Image image, String name, Hashtable parameters, XmlNode fromNode)

The swedish in the middle is: "It was not possible to convert a object of the type System.String to the type GetImageCallback at"

What can I do to fix this?

It was not in the survival thread yet...
But you pointed me in the right direction, thanks.

Found it here.

I'll apply it tonight.

No that patch did not help me.
Odd that it works in the music library though.

OK, I took a new crack at this problem tonight.
And I found the bug that is causing this (well I think it's a bug).
Originally, in config.exe, I have selected each directory with tv-recordings separetly (e.g. "Legend of the seeker") and in that there is a "folder.jpg" - No preview is shown.
If I, in config.exe, select the directory above: "!TV" and in GBpvr selects this, I get the folder "Legend of the seeker" with folder.jpg as preview.

Can you see if the attached patch resolve this?

Yes, thanks. That solved that issue.

Let's see if I can explain the other problem.
If I select a main folder as video folder in config.exe, like "C:\TV" and my recordings is in "C:\TV\Series 1", "\Series 2" and so forth, the folder art is shown.

If I on the other hand adds the sub folders one by one in config.exe. Like "c:\TV\series 1" and "c:\TV\Series 2" and so on. No folder art is shown at all.

A Main folder is needed for the folder.jpg to be shown in the sub folders.

I hope I explained the problem better this time...

Sorry, its still not clear what you exactly your asking.

Are you saying you have a "c:\tv\series 1\folder.jpg" file, are in the 'icon' view mode in the Video Library, browse to "c:\tv" and are seeing the "series 1" item using the generic icon instead of the folder.jpg from inside that folder?

Or are you talking about the new metadata/cover-art stuff? The app does attempt to look in sub directories for this?

I set library to icon view mode and there is a folder.jpg in each of the "series" folders.
If I, in config.exe select the "c:\TV" folder level, I see folder art when I browse down in to the TV folder in GB-pvr. All the series folders with a folder.jpg shows the icon.

But if I remove the "c:\TV" in config and instead add all the subfolders separetly; "c:\TV\Series 1", "c:\TV\Series 2" etc. So now when I open Video Library I see "Series 1", "Series 2" directly, without the need to select the TV folder first. (This way I can sort all shows no matter which hard drive they are located on.)

But when I add the folders this way, I won't get any folder.jpg as icons. Not even if I add an empty folder in "series 1" and copy the folder.jpg to that folder...

It is very wierd and I was really surprised when I found out how it all fitted together. So I understand that this thread and my explanations is difficult to understand.
Why should the icon loading be different depending on which folder that is selected in the main view? Do the Video Library need a top folder without any video files? It is just odd.

But I have reproduced it a couple of times now. I have not tried putting a video file and a folder.jpg in the C:\TV folder though. Think I'll try that tonight. Smile

I used another computer this time to see if I could recreate this behaviour apeared on other computers as well. It does.

I also noticed that I missed one important piece of info in my last post.
If I only add one main folder in config.exe, gbpvr directly shows all folders in that one.
But I have also added one "D:\TV" folder. What happens now is that when I start video library, I have two main folders: tv 1 and tv 2 And i need to select one.

No icon is shown if I put a folder.jpg in any of these folders.

Well, the easiest fix should be to just move everything from the "tv 2" folder to the first one, and everything should work as I want.
