Does anyone else have this problem? In TS recordings have the first few lines at the top of the image are garbage. Just white and black stuff intermixed.

I have a HVR-2250 recording OTA ASTC.

Thanks!

It's not garbage, it's digital data intentionally added by the broadcaster. The TS recording is just showing you what the broadcaster actually sent. You're not supposed to see it, since it's in the overscan area. You can either ignore it (that's what I do) or use the aspect ratio settings to move it off screen (that's what the broadcaster expects).

Ah...thanks. I just realized it only happens on some of the TS recordings and not all. I guess that makes sense too. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

No problem, I'm glad you figured it out. I agree with you - it's annoying to have that stuff in the picture, but it's only some broadcasts on a few channels. I prefer seeing it occasionally to changing the aspect ratio.

Its also not just .ts recordings. It'll also be present in your .mpg or .dvr-ms recordings too. This is part of the already-encoded video that your broadcaster is transmitting.
