I recently installed a HVR-2250 in a new XP computer and watching Live TV is very choppy with almost no sound. When I open WinTV my reception is excellent and smooth - perfect.

I have Videotron Illico plugged right into the card. And in the configuration I have the correct card selected.

Any help is appreciated.

If it works well in WinTV, then its probably caused by the decoders you're using with GB-PVR. Try other decoders.

Sorry to ask something that's probably obvious, but how?

Using the decoder settings on the Playback tab of the config app.

In the Playback tab I've changed the MPEG-2 Playback Video Decoder from System Default to MPEG Video Decoder and still no improvement. I've tried the other existing options and also no difference. Is there there something in here I've missed or need to add?

"MPEG Video Decoder" and "System Default" are probably the same decoder. This decoder has caused problems for some users in the past. You probably need to install another MPEG2 decoder so you have another option to try.

Ok, I'm not even sure how to do that. Remember, this is just for LiveTV. Before I mess up my computer, can I install this decoder http://www.divx.com and use that? If not what would you recommend?

Monty - thanks for your help!

No, you cant use that. That decoder is for DIVX. You need an MPEG-2 decoder. Try this one: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPV_Decoder.htm. Instructions for installing it are on that page.

I really do appreciate your help - I installed the decoder, rebooted and it's better but gets choppy after about 30 seconds or so.

I hate to ask, but any other suggestions?

All I can suggest is trying different decoder/renderer options, installing other decoders if you need to.
