I have being udsing version 1.1.5 for some time now with two MVP's with few problems. I recently decided to upgrade to 1.3.7 and have had some major issues.

Firstly I can no longer use the MVP to watch live TV. Recordings work fine but when I choose to watch live TV the screen goes black for a few seconds and then returns to the TV guide. I cleared out the log folder, restartd the PC and then tried to start a live TV seesion and have enclosed the logs and a copy of my config.xml just in case someone can see what is going wrong. I have since reverted to 1.1.5 and all is well again. Does 1.3.7 require a more powerful PC as I know my 1.7Ghz PentiumM was a bit undererpowered for use with an MVP but worked fine for a long time.

The other issue is related to my capture card, a DVICO FusionHDTV Dual Digital. When using 1.3.7 it seems to be fine but after a day or so the USB tuner stops working - but is fine in the DVICO software. A reinstall of gb-pvr resolves the problem for another day.

Many thanks
Terence

Most likely you need to open the firewall for the new version of pvrx2.exe. Many firewalls store size and date info on a file that is "allowed", so that if the file is compromised by a rogue app the file will no longer be allowed to access the network.

I would first start by making this change to config.xml and restarting the recording service.

<MVPUseShortFilenamesOnNMT>true</MVPUseShortFilenamesOnNMT>

You have it as false right now.

Hi Harry,

The fact that recordings play OK would lead me to doubt this is the reason but I will turn off the firewall and see what happens. Thanks.

Thanks for this Martin, I'll give it a try today and report back. This is a setting I have not touched - has it changed since version 1.1.5?

Thanks

I have installed the new 1.3.11 and this problem has not reoccurred yet, so hopefully it is fixed fixed.

Further to my last post I thought I should close this issue by explaining the solution some more, as it turns out the problem was my error.

When I installed the new version (which was 1.3.7 at the time) I had some tuning issues so decided to do a clean install and then import my recordings via the setup utility. All this worked fine. Unknown to me the default BDA Mulitplexer setting was not the same as my previous set-up as I had changed it to one that worked with the MVP. This was the cause of my problem and setting it back to Cyberlink would have resolved it DOH!

There is more about this in this thread http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=40165

Here hoping this prevents anyone else making this mistake.

And thanks to all those who helped me get to the bottom of the problem.

Regards
Terence
