Been using gbpvr for several years, best tool around and I love it.

Vista x64. Avermedia A 161A and a twin-tuner Hauppuage Nova-T. All DVB-T. Hardware okay and known good. I have installed vcredit_x86 and .net is at 3.5sp1

Upgraded to 1.3.11 last week and since then, if I attempt to "Map Digital Channels to EPG Channels" config.exe is greyed out within a few seconds and any attempt to click returns the Vista "program has stopped working" (Details below)

The system *is* working when run with the previous config, things are recorded fine. Crash only happens when attempting to scan for new channels.

1.3.11 was installed over 1.2.13 in the usual way. This problem is 100% consistent, persists through reboot and even when I completely uninstalled gbpvr, deleted directories and did a fresh and new install, it immediately presented itself when setting up the tuners so is not an upgrade issue.

I attach a sample config-native's log which appears to stop dead during the setup.

Any suggestions welcome.

The app seems to be crashing when it askes Directshow to find a video decoder for use in the preview app, so it sounds like the crash is being caused by a bad video decoder.

This part of the app does not honour the decoder selection on the playback tab. Instead it just lets Directshow choose. Maybe use the Microsoft DECCHECK utility to check which is the default decoder on your machine.

Thanks for looking at it.

There doesn't seem to be a deccheck for vista. There is vmcd which purports to do the same thing but when I run it there is only one choice of video or audio codec - "Microsoft Mpeg-2". I have installed quite a few other codecs so I'm thinking it might be a 32/64 bit issue. From a quick read of windows help on codecs it states all codecs must be 64bit for Vista-64

I'll keep looking...

Edit: Installed some dedicated 64-bit codecs and although vmcd can still only see the MS one, config.exe has stopped crashing and is currently scanning through nicely, giving previews as it did.

For benefit of others who meet this issue with Vista 64

Not sure which one worked, but I've added "K-Lite codec pack 64-bit v131" and "ffdshow_rev1975_20080525_clsid_x64.exe"

Hi Sub and everyone.

I also have the same problem but even though I've installed both the latest k-lite and ffdshow filter. Non did the trick for me, it still freezes as soon as it's found some channels.
I was just wondering if it wouldn't be a good idea to have a (default unselected) tick box to select weather a preview is shown or not, to avoid this problem.
Or atleast let the config channel scan honour the decoder selector.

/Jimmy

Ps. Thanks for a otherwise very nice software.

Reproduce the problem, and post the logs and I'll take a look.

I'm having a problem with this too in version 1.3.11, as soon as I press the "map digital channels button" config stops responding, although I don't get any errror messages. I'm running XP with a Nova T 500.

Logs attached.

I dont think its the same as video decoder problem above.

Do you have any of the options ticked in Config -> Capture Source -> Digital Recording Plugin settings -> Advanced BDA Settings?

No, everything is unticked in Advanced Bda Settings.

If this is a different problem, should I repost in a new thread?
