I am using a dual-tuner card (Hauppauge WinTV PVR-500). I've configured both tuners, one as Capture Device #1, and the other as Capture Device #2.Problem is, when I record 2 shows simultaneously, they both record, but partly incorrectly. Following are the results I get:

Channels Recorded - reversed between the two shows. That is, the .mpg file labeled with the name of show #1 actually contains a recording of show #2, and vice versa.

Recording Duration - correct for the shows as labeled, but reversed for the shows as actually recorded. For example, if I try to record a 30-minute show and a 60-minute show both starting at 8:00, I get only the first 30 minutes of the 60-minute show, and I get 30 minutes of extra recording after the 30-minute show.

I tried reversing the capture device numbers. This fixes the recording confusion, but it causes a problem with Live TV -- I can not change the channel I'm viewing. I guess this is because the channel changer is changing the channel on the tuner that is NOT being used for Live TV.

I'm sure there must be a way to get both recording and Live TV to work properly with dual tuners, but I can't figure it out. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

i have the same card.

Device #2 is listed as Hauppauge PVR500 With FM Tuner
Device #1 is listed as hauppauge PVR500

See if that makes a difference.

I tried configuring as you suggested -- the problem persists, no change. Do you have simultaneous recordings and Live TV both working correctly?

FYI, on my system, GB-PVR detects both devices as "with FM Tuner".

Thank you.

Bit hard for me to tell actually, as I have other tuners - but I used to use the pvr500 for live tv and recordings and it worked. Seems funny that both are detected as with FM tuner, as I'm sure it's only one of them.

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

You can also download DeviceTypeCheck from the wiki and run it to see how your system has each device defined. I just used it last week when I added a PVR-500 to my system that already had a PVR-150 installed.

On my PVR-500 only the first tuner was detected with FM. The second tuner just came up as a PVR-500.

Here's what my "Tuner Status" window shows now:

PVR-150 (Tuner1):Recording The Last Templar
PVR-500 w FM Tuner (Tuner2):Sleeping
PVR-500 (Tuner3):Sleeping
i3-3570k, 8GB RAM, Win10 Pro, Nvidia GT710, HDHomeRun (OTA), NPVR 6.x
On a clear disk, you can seek forever...

I reproduced both problems, and saved logs after each:

1. logs1.zip - after reproducing the problem with Live TV - I opened Live TV, attempted multiple times to change the channel, and saw no channel changes on my screen.

2. logs 2.zip - I then switched the device numbering to reproduce the alternative problem. I recorded two shows simultaneously, and confirmed that the file names and recording lengths were reversed.

Thanks for your help, phil.

As far as I can tell it successfully changed channels several times, with no errors reported.

Does the tuning assistant show all your channels?

I think that it did successfully change channels, but on the wrong tuner (i.e. the one NOT being used to display Live TV). I was watching Live TV, and while I changed channels 10 or 20 times, the video I was viewing remained on the same channel -- it never changed. I'm guessing that the channel changed on the other tuner.

Yes, the tuning assistant displayed all my channels.

Is there a way to tell GB-PVR to use the other tuner for Live TV?

Thank you, phil.

One more bit of information: as I change channels on Live TV, I do see text onscreen showing program names and channels changing, even though the video does not change channels.
