I've been trying to get off 1.2.13 onto 1.3.9 and now 1.3.11, but I can't seem to get there. Current problem is files of zero size. I can watch video live, but can't record with dvr-ms, ts or mpg. All 3 give zero file sizes (or fail with small sizes) and usually give multiple files of zero size. Here are some logs. Multirecord is off, multidec is on. I start with a working 1.2.13 install and install over it. I don't use the default directory.

Thanks for any help.

Here's one error in your logs:
FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: GB-PVR PSI Parser

There's a re-registerfilters.bat file (in the gbpvr directory). Give that a run then try again...I'll keep looking in your logs for other errors.

Thanks!

As usual, the minute I ask for help, even after days trying to figure it out, I begin to make progress. It seems to be multidec related. I've got ATSC/QAM and analog recording OK now. I'll check the PSI parser issue.

At the risk of looking foolish (again), let me start over. Ignore my first set of logs, they seem to be screwy. I must have made a mistake when switching from 1.2.13 to 1.3.11. Here are the current symptoms and new logs:

I can watch everything live. I can record analog, QAM and DVB (multidec/emunation) in mpg. (Haven't tried dvr-ms yet). I can record analog and QAM in .ts

I can't record DVB in .ts - I get two files, both 0 bytes. Multirecord is off, Multidec is on. The big draw for me of 1.3.x is multirecord, which needs .ts. I'd be reasonably happy with mpg for DVB and .ts for QAM, but that's not possible, so I've got to get .ts working for DVB.

These logs show an attempt to record in DVB in .ts, waited until the two 0 byte files are created, then stopped the recording and packed up the logs.

Thanks again for any help, and I apologize for the first bad set of logs.

Edit: dvr-ms works on DVB. It looks like I can at least get onto 1.3.11 in dvr-ms, which is what I'm using for 1.2.13. I really want to use .ts, if possible, though.

New info-

The dvr-ms format, which worked from a quick record, did not work from a scheduled recording. Here is set of logs that shows a scheduled start at 6:00 (minus one minute pre padding) on a DVB source for Top Gear. It was still recording long after it should have stopped. I couldn't stop the recording manually. I ended up stopping the recording service and deleting it from the db manually.

Every time I try to upgrade to 1.3 anything I get odd behavior like this. Here are the logs. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

I tried another quick record (DVB) using dvr-ms format. It started - or appeared to start, and created a 78 MB file, then in the EPG, it switched from red to green and the recording file size stopped growing.

Logs attached.

Perhaps I should go back to 1.2.13 (as I have the last 5 times) Sad

As above, any comments are most welcome.

Signal looks low:
2009-01-31 19:58:14.953 VERBOSE locked=1 present=1 strength=0 quality=79

But you say live tv works fine?? So that could be the twinham's numbering scheme that is reporting such a low strength number. Not sure what to suggest, hopefully sub will look and see something I don't

Yes, live is great and 1.2.13 works great. (I run 1.2.13 with dvr-ms. )

I'm back to 1.2.13 again, and it works great. I'm open to suggestions on where I should go from here to get onto 1.3.11.

I'm on Media Center 2005 (basically XP SP2). I run a system with two identical drives - C and D. I can restore my system back to any day in the last few months by restoring to the alternative drive and playing around with it until I'm happy. I could try installing a clean Vista, XP or MCE or SP3 or a 64 bit version, etc.

I could try another clean 1.3.11 install into a copy of my current system. I think I've done this at least once, but I've mostly installed over a copy of my working 1.2.13 directory. I'm using a non-standard install directory, so I could try the default.

I have a very large gbpvr.db3 database (75MB), I could reduce that for testing. I have analog, QAM and a single DVB card defined as multiple sources - I could reduce my sources.

The only problem I have with 1.2.13 is that it refuses to manually stop recording a long recording. I have to wait until it ends and then delete the recording, or go through the arduous process of exiting GBPVR, stopping the recording service, entering the db manually, finding and deleting the entry in the recording schedule and restarting everything. I mention this only in case it might have some bearing on why 1.3.7 and 1.3.11 won't work for me.

I've got some time in about 10 days to try more extreme solutions, so any suggestions as to where you'd go from here are welcome. I'd prefer to try easier solutions first, then work up to more extreme solutions, but I'd love to know - if you were setting up a new system now, where would you start?

dennit- I have the same issue with .ts recordings of dvbs. http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=40208 I don't think it is your setup. I am on xp sp3. Have you found any setup that can record dvbs on .ts? Like you, I want to use .ts so I can also use multirecord on QAM. I uploaded a full ts file for sub to look at but he has been swamped.
