I'm experiencing high CPU utilization using PVRX2 v1.3.11.

When I start PVRX2 my CPU usage goes to 99%. This is when I start the application before I do anything else.

When I try to go into the TVGuide it is very slow at display the channel listing. It takes about 3-5 seconds for each channel to be listed in the guide.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so how was it corrected?

My computer is a Dell Optiplex GX260 P4 2.26 GHz with 1 GB Ram.

Is this what I can expect out of this computer or should I be seeing something more usable?

I have attach the pvrx2.exe.log and pvrx2.exe-native.log log file for anyone who can help me out.

Thanks for any help.

Maybe try executing the attached SQL on your GBPVR.db3 file (using a tool like SQLiteSpy):
Code:
create index programme_epg on PROGRAMME (channel_oid, start_time)

There is a fix to load guide data faster, check this thread:
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=40466
If you don't want to mess with the database then I would wait for the next release.
The high CPU utilization is normal when the guide is loading, the fix reduces the time it takes.

I have a P4 2.8 running win2000 here and I run my machine at 100% cpu 24/7.

I tried this fix too, thanks.

Tonight my computer was almost hung, but I had Windows Task Manager open for just such an occasion, and it showed PVRX2 using 90%+ of cpu. It was just sitting there with the Pending screen open.

Fortunately, I clicked the upper right corner close box, and it quit a few seconds later, and my computer went back to normal. My computer has frozen a few times the last few days, including the mouse pointer, and I've had to use the reset button, but this time I didn't have to. The pending.log file is 12.8MB: could it's size cause a problem?

I have a 3ghz Pentium 4 with 2gB ram.

Thanks, Mike.

Do you record to a local drive or a network drive?

BTW, you can delete that pending.log file. I doubt its the cause.

Do you remember exactly what time it was so I know where to look in those logs?

It was about 2:30am. I closed PVRX2 to get my computer back, and the last thing in the pvr2exe.log is the exiting from that.
