My GBPVR screen size on my PCH needs to be reduced. On the Recording screen, "Re" is clipped on the left, and "recordings" barely makes it on the right. I ran MVP Position and came up with 1236 width, 44 X offset (started at 1280, 0 offset). Restarted recording service, and no change. Tried changing StartMeUp from "-m 720 &" to "-m 720 --display 1236x720 &" - no change.

Search of the forum resulted in:

- mvpmcx2 needs to have the same total dimensions as you have in config.xml or you will corrupt the frame buffer and get unexpected result.
Not really sure what that means.

What is going on?

current settings:

GBPVR 1.3.1.1
PCH set to HDMI 720p

<MAC-0006DC4223C2>
<MVPClientType>PCH</MVPClientType>
<MVPWidth>1236</MVPWidth>
<MVPHeight>720</MVPHeight>
<MVPOffsetX>44</MVPOffsetX>
<MVPOffsetY>0</MVPOffsetY>
<MVPSendIncrementalUpdates>true</MVPSendIncrementalUpdates>
<MVP16x9Mode>true</MVP16x9Mode>
<MVPTranscodeTS>false</MVPTranscodeTS>
<MVPTranscodeAVI>false</MVPTranscodeAVI>
<MVPTranscodeWMV>false</MVPTranscodeWMV>
<MVPTranscodeMKV>false</MVPTranscodeMKV>
</MAC-0006DC4223C2>

#echo "Shell to mvpmcx2 "

#remove the # from most appropriate line

# Analog TV settings

#/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m ntsc &
#/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m pal &

That certainly is no good. As a generally rule never change the dimensions on the command line.

For your example I'd try.

<MVPWidth>1200</MVPWidth>
<MVPHeight>720</MVPHeight>
<MVPOffsetX>40</MVPOffsetX>
<MVPOffsetY>0</MVPOffsetY>

This isn't documented or explained anywhere AFAIK but for me the best formula for this at 720p is

2 times OffsetX plus the Width must be less than or equal to 1280
2 times OffsetY plus the Height must be less than or equal to 720

set config.xml to:
<MVPWidth>1200</MVPWidth>
<MVPHeight>720</MVPHeight>
<MVPOffsetX>40</MVPOffsetX>
<MVPOffsetY>0</MVPOffsetY>

and startmeup back to:
/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 720 &

still no change, Recording is missing "Re"

Did you restart the Recording Service after editing the config.xml?

Try and lower it again this would be more than 10% overscan

<MVPWidth>1120</MVPWidth>
<MVPOffsetX>80</MVPOffsetX>

Still no change. The changes to config.xml don't appear to be read.

Are you running Vista? If so you have to edit it with a program with Admin privileges.

Compress and upload your GBPVR logs and I will see if something is odd. If not you might need to scan you disk for multiple config.xml files.
