I have a slight jittery problem with some recordings in GBPVR, but live tv seems fine, and when i play back the recording in WMP, all plays fine, i did notice that WMP uses different decoders to play the file, and am wondeing how i can get GBPVR to use that for playback of recordings to eliminate my problem

Does the decoders in config affect playback of recordings

Use the decoder and/or renderer settings on the playback tab of the config app to control what decoders and renderers get used during playback of recordings.

You cant. ts files are always played using the built in reader. This only really has an effect on stuff like how long the reported duration is (ie, timeline graphics OSD shown), and skipping. How smooth the video plays etc comes down to the decoder and renderers.

Actually, that was something different. He's getting corrupt recordings, that have regular visible breakups occuring during playback - same result when played back with Haali, GB-PVR, VLC etc.

Yours are playing back fine in other players, so is a playback problem, not a recording problem.

I am likely to say that mine is also related to a recording problem, but i have a feeling its not something i can change, and it seems it is based on a certain channel being recorded

mostly everything is ok, but i know there is something going on in the recordings as my NMT has major issues with some of the files that are recoreded. I get issues ranging from back screens to not being able to skip forward, but i know the NMT is extreemly pick with .ts

I fix most of those playback issues with ts doctor and it has worked for every file so far so i am happy there, but GBPVR still has an issue with some files,

anything i could do to solve. Its not such a big deal just thought you might have some insight.

You mentioned they playback fine in WMP, so its definitely not a recording problem.

Ah, NMT - thats a different kettle of fish. GB-PVR record the transport streams being broadcast, pretty much bit for bit, which results in flawless duplication of what was received. The NMT is a very picky player, and doesnt like several things which are valid in .TS files and often done by broadcasters, like the clock wrapping, or the adverts being spliced in with a different clock than the main program. The NMT doesnt like these types of things occurring, and often decides to disable skipping rather than dealing some of the complexities that come with this type of stuff.

The best thing to do is hassle Syabas on their forums to improve playback of .ts files from broadcast sources. If enough people hassle them, they'll eventually remove these limitations in their player.
