I'm rebooting the HTPC daily using a Windows scheduled task, and then restarting GBPVR and trying to update the EPG with the following batch file:

Code:
echo off
d:\utilities\sleep.exe 5
c:\progra~1\devnz\gbpvr\pvrx2.exe –UpdateEPG

The sleep 5 command is to allow the graphics system to fully start before invoking PVRX2 in FSE mode.

As far as I can tell, the EPG is not updating. I use Schedules Direct and it updates fine from the System menu and from GBPVRs internal updater.

Any help?

If you can post the pvrx2.exe.log after the reboot, I'll take a look.

what user did you start it as in scheduler? may have something to do with it..
and try a much longer wait time as windows doesn't always take same amount of time to come up after reboots...[try 60 secs or so just to be sure]

plus, the interface doesn't show when just doing epg update...shouldn't need to wait at all..
use -updateepgonly to not have the interface show at all and exits after done...

I think you're onto it. I checked the scheduled task log and it shows an error:

Code:
"poweroff.job" (poweroff.exe) 2/22/2009 8:31:15 AM ** ERROR **
The attempt to log on to the account associated with the task failed, therefore, the task did not run.
    The specific error is:
0x8007052f: Logon failure: user account restriction.  Possible reasons are blank passwords not allowed, logon hour restrictions, or a policy restriction has been enforced.
Verify that the task's Run-as name and password are valid and try again.

The computer name is PVR and the user is GBPVR, with no logon password.

In the scheduler I have:

Run as: PVR\GBPVR with the password fields blank.

The following box Run only if logged on is not checked.

I don't have a good grasp of user account issues, so any help is appreciated. I'd certainly like to keep the no password configuration.

iirc you can't do scheduler items without a password, unless it's as the currently logged in user..meaning check that 'only if logged in' box and use same user as you're logged in as, for every account that will use it..

I checked the "Run only if logged on" box and now the reboot seems to have occurred properly. Log snippet below comparing yesterday with today.

"poweroff.job" (poweroff.exe)
    Started 2/23/2009 8:34:18 AM
"poweroff.job" (poweroff.exe)
    Finished 2/23/2009 8:34:18 AM
Result: The task completed with an exit code of (0).
"Task Scheduler Service"
    Exited at 2/23/2009 8:34:36 AM
"Task Scheduler Service"
    Started at 2/23/2009 8:35:25 AM

The PVRX2.exe.log file shows PVRX2 starting with the -updateEPG argument and later the calling of schedules direct, so I think everything is fine. I'll let it run for a few days and post back if it looks like there is still a problem.

Thanks pBS!
