I have a wired client PC that is fairly low powered 800mhz with a resonable video card.

I currently have it setup streaming, and it plays videos pretty well. My problem is commercial skipping. It's almost like there is a timeline problem, but it only exists on the client. When I play the recording on the server, the commercials skip perfectly, but on the client it gets off timeline and does not match up with the commercials. This is not only visible from watching the video, but the OSD seems to be off as well (ie. it does not match the 'real' commercials either). The audio remains in-sync.

Any ideas?

Are these .mpg or .ts files?

Last night it was a .mpg, but I believe I've seen similar behavior with .ts files.

I'm not really sure. I'll add it to my list of things to check out before the next release though.

Thanks.

BTW, there isn't a config setting to ignore comskip files is there?

On the client, I'd just like to play without commercial skip, but don't want to delete the files since on the server it works fine.

Try the attached patch, and add <DisableComskipDuringPlayback>true</DisableComskipDuringPlayback>.

i thought there was one, on first misc tab, turn off auto-skip....
doesn't affect .ts files?
i just wish there were a setting for the pch so i wouldn't have to turn them off on server too..

also, i don't think it saves the '999' settings upon suspend...i always have to hit '999' again after resuming...

FWIW, I have been testing the .ts streaming patch that sub put out a couple of weeks ago. On streaming recorded shows, it does not see the comskip timeline, (the little black boxes for commercials are not there on the green stripe). On fileshare, they are there and it works fine. I have not tried the latest patch he just posted.
