It's taken me a long time, but I have finally seen a pattern to a problem I've been having.

Because I can't seem to get THMpgMUX.ax installed correctly, live preview does not work for me. I have been using Timeshift instead.

However, Timeshift using my DVB-T tuner boots me out into the menu every five minutes like clockwork. I have read elsewhere that users are booted when using timeshift, but this seems related to the changeover of the file every 30 minutes or so; My problem happens every five minutes, almost to the second.

I am also using Graphrecorder to stream some stations in over the web. I can launch processes to start and stop my programs, and the player picks up the file reliably. However, if I don't stop within five minutes, only the player itself stops: the process that kills the stream is not launched, and the stream continues to download. Graphrecorder and Externalrecorder act in exactly the same way.

I am posting this as a core component problem because I have timed carefully, and the times are five minutes to the second in both cases. In other words, I believe that if I can solve the problem when using the DVB-T tuner, it will solve the other problem automatically.

No mux filters are used when you're watching live preview live tv.

If you post your logs for live preview mode, I'll take a look why its not working.

If you reproduce this and post the logs, I'll also take a look at this.

Sorry, I dont know anything about the GraphRecorder plugin, but I'm happy to look at the other problems for you.

OK, I will go do that now.

I don't understand what you mean when you say that no mux filters are used for Live TV. Surely they would have to be, to reassemble the packets. My live TV sound stutters to a stop, usually within seconds. Since my earlier post, I have registered an older version of the Cyberlink Mux, selected it as a BDA filter from the Config window, and it made a big difference. Live TV sond still stutters to a stop, but within minutes rather than seconds.

Finding a new version of the Cyberlink filter seems a challenge indeed.

I will go see to some logs, now.

This will take a few minutes for each set of logs, so I will attach a few at a time.

This set is Live TV with DVR-MS selected as the BDA Multiplexor. Logs zipped immediately after stopping the player (sound stuttered to a stop in about 30 seconds).

I am not at this stage enclosing a log for Timeshifted TV with DVR-MS selected as the BDA Multiplexor. Strangely, when I switched it back from the Cyberlink mux, timeshifted TV played for more than 10 minutes, for the first time ever. For months now, with the DVR mus selected, timeshifted TV has been booting me to the menu after exactly five minutes...but not this time.

Again, this has not behaved as before. However, this 2005 version Cyberlink mux is now pausing picture and sound every 2-3 seconds when I timeshift.

This is still using the 2005 Cyberlink mux, this time in Live Preview mode. Sound stutters to a stop as before in just a few seconds. When this happens, the picture becomes a bit juddery, too, but never quite pauses.

Darn. Should have left well enough alone. Now that I have switched to Cyberlink and back to DVR-MS for the purpose of producing logs, timeshifted TV boots me back to the menu as before. This happened after 3 minutes, not five as in many, many previous trials; however, this time was an HD station, so perhaps it has to do with the amount of data.

No mux is used for live preview live tv. Instead it takes the packets that arrive from the card, and demultiplexes them into the separate audio and video streams. A mux is only used when the app needs to combine separate audio/video streams into a single stream for writing to disk.

The first thing I'd try with live preview mode is setting your audio renderer back to 'system default'. Yours is currently set to 'DirectSound: Realtek HD Audio output'. Making this change may also help with the timeshift problem also.

If that doesnt help, I'd next look at disabling the 'ffdshow raw video filter'.
