Where does the MVP get the menu items to display? I've downloaded the excellent My series of plugins and created menu subdirectories to organize things a little better but the MVP menu has not changed. Everything has been rebooted (PC, router/bridge, MVP). I had this problem a while back but when I started to investigate they started working so I quit. Any help will be appreciated.

Try coping the my series folders from the blue skin folder to the folder of the skin you are using. Also copy the onscreenmenu folder.

I'm currently using the blue skin but will try/compare them all when I get home. Thanks!

I'm surprised you'd see any difference between the MVP and PC screen. They are the exact same executable, and use the same menus. The process of loading and drawing the menu is shared by the two, with the only difference being the MVP sends the resulting picture out over the network.

You dont have another machine on your network that also has GB-PVR, which could be showing it's menu on the MVP?

Also, I assume you've run the config program and enabled the plug-ins, right?

I have also run into this and found that the MVP seems to have a memory for the screens used even when I turn it off with the remote.  When I change screens I have found that if I shut down the GP-PVR MediaMVP Server and restart it that the MVP refreshes the screens it is using and everything matches between the PC and TV.

I have not been setting the GP-PVR MediaMVP Server to autostart by changing the auto start setting in the config.xml file but have instead been starting it by executing the file from the active PC screen.  I thought that I had read in one of the messages that there was a way to auto start the server by doing something in the Configuration Program but have not been able to figure out how to do that.

Running the GB-PVR MediaMVP Server manually has been more effective for me because when I have a menu or screen lockup the easiest way to resolve it seems to be manually cycle the server by closing it down on the computer and restarting it.  After restarting the server, the lock-up situation seems to always resolve itself.  When it autostarts, I have not figured out a way to do this re-cycling because I don't have the Server minimized at the bottom of the screen.

Sub,

I tried the different skins and the PC side does not match the MVP. I even unplugged the MVP, rebooted the PC, then plugged the Media MVP in about 15 minutes later. I did tweak the TV screen settings in the xml file to center the TV picture a few weeks ago. The settings I tweaked are in the general section and not under a mac address. I'm pretty sure I used notepad and not wordpad. Could an editor screw up the xml file? Maybe I should blast the installation and start over, not that tough with the way it's been developed [Image: biggrin.gif]

There is only one set of code and one settings file used for both the MVP and PC. If you're seeing a different skin, the only thing I can think of is that you've got GB-PVR also installed on another machine and you're changing the wrong machine's config.

Hmmm, interesting. The only devices on my network are the desktop machine (gb-pvr server), my laptop (no software), and the MVP box. I noticed in the config.xml file the menu layout section matches what's on the MVP but not what shows on the PC screen. Is this the file that gets read or is it in a skins file? Are there any MVP temp cache files that are used and maybe not getting cleared out? Unfortunately the desktop is in my son's room and he just went to bed. Maybe the next step is to make a copy of the directory, blast/deinstall the original and reinstall. Are there any gotchas that I need to manually do to start fresh?

The config.xml has the layout of the menu. The skin have color/fonts/screen position etc for each of the screens.

No.

No. Just uninstall, delete the directory, reinstall.
