I'm still struggling with some misbehaving DVB-T recordings (NZ w/ AAC) although they seem to be limited to channel C4.

I used graphedit and built a graph that seems to work (in the graphedit viewer) and re-registered the h.264 filter and Mpeg Splitter, then edited config.xml to set my preferred tools.

The graph that PVRX2 builds, however, is not the same as the manual one I built and contains "extra" bits. And, as a result, PVRX2 can't play the file without severe skipping and freezing.

So, is there a way I can mandate an existing graph for watching a recording, or is there more I can tweak in config to result in a graph like the one that works?

The attached logs from pvrx2 are before I tweaked GBPVR (pvrx2.exe-native-1) and after I tried tweaking config (pvrx2.exe-native).

Also included config.xml, the graph built by pvrx2, and the graph I built that works (30_Rock...grf).

Finally, as a side issue, anyone have any idea why only C4 seems to give me issues?

Sub, ive posted a 60MB cut of the daily show at

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TCX5415E

on my machine the file jumps ahead ALOT, the file can be rewound and skipped segments can (sort of) be watched, but rewind too far and the file will skip in the same place again though

Am at a loss myself as live TV (or recordings) of any other channel taken at the same time as this sample are fine, including TV3 which is broadcast on the same frequency so i am leaning away from reception issues

Thanks

This exactly describes symptoms that I get on UK DVB-T.

My reception is borderline. A couple of the muxes are broadcast on low power from my local transmitter (or so I read) and it is shows on these muxes that are most affected. Changes in the weather affect the quality of reception.

I recorded to dvr-ms until a few weeks ago. The symptoms when using dvr-ms were consistent. From time to time, the picture would freeze and the sound would continue though sometimes the sound became choppy. After about five or ten seconds, picture and sound would return to normal. PVRX2 handled these glitches in the dvr-ms file (caused by brief periods of poor reception) very well.

I started to record to ts files a few weeks ago. The symptoms when using ts are also consistent. From time to time, the video would jump ahead. The distance jumped seems to be random ... it might be five or ten or twenty minutes. The jumps are very quick and clean and look like a scene change in the video. There have been times when I haven't noticed that the jump happened.

After a jump forward, I can skip back using the remote. The amount jumped does not appear to be related to the length of the glitch in the file. The video might jump forward 5 minutes. I can skip back 4 minutes and 50 seconds and the the recording will play just fine.

I have used the blue button to display the timeline while the jumps are happening. The time counter at the left of the timeline sometimes goes slightly bonkers a second or two before a jump happens. Instead of ticking up one second at a time, it might tick up 20 or 30 seconds in one tick.

I am pretty sure that the symptoms that I have are caused by intermittent reception problems. PVRX2 seems to handle the glitches in the recording well when the recording is dvr-ms and less well when the recording is ts.

Would it be possible to simulate intermittent poor reception by unplugging the ariel coax to a DVB-T card for a few seconds during recording?

I use the Nvidia Purevideo decoder ... the one that can be bought and downloaded from the Nvidia website.

A most excellent description of the symptoms, identical to my problems when using the cyberlink mux, full-ts also gives the same problems, have not actually tried dvr-ms myself yet but will give it a try

Sub, have you had a chance to have a look at this file, or is it too large?
