With all the new exiting developments hopefully on the way, I decided to have another go at getting component working.

Sorry, but I'm failing dismally.

HDMI works a treat and this is what I've done:-

On PCH set the video to component 1080p 60Hz (was at HDMI 1080p 60Hz).
changed the startup script from -o hdmi to -o component.

When the PCH restarts, its own menu pops up (softer to view than HDMI) and when I navigate and start the script, the screen just goes blank, needing a reboot of the PCH.

enclosed zip file with startup script (run from HDD) and output from manually running the script.

Any advice most welcome.

What version of the firmware are you running?

Thanks the prompt response.

Last but one I think - from this one 01-17-090125-15-POP-402.zip (just downloading the new one in case you suggest it!).

That's odd because it the log say TV mode 7 which is what is stored for 1080p 60 for me yet just a couple of lines down your file says hdtv50. As I type this I remember that several versions of mvpmcx2 ago the modes weren't being read correctly. Is that the new version for component? Maybe it is an obsolete version you are testing with.

OK, I'll make sure and grab your latest version from the dummy's guide installer......

pause.....

That seems to have sorted it out, but only partially.....
The GBPVR menu appeared fine, asked it to play a recording and the normal result with HDMI would be a short pause and the picture appears....
With this, the TV popped up with "no signal" a couple of times followed by the "popcorn buffering" screen, followed by the recording playing..

When I hit "stop" the recording stopped, but it didn't return to the menu and the TV showed "no signal". telnetting in and ps showed neither mvpmcx2 or gaya running.

I assume you are now running mvpmcx2 from the online mvpmcx2.zip. Could you compress and upload your logs please.

mvpmcx2 from the NMTInstall.exe pointed to by the dummy's guide.

Sadly logs will have to wait a while, the family have grabbed the TV.

One thought just crossed my mind - having both component and HDMI plugged in wouldn't upset things would it and just using the PCH setup screen to swap between the two when testing.

My experience with both plugged in is not great. Part of the complexities of HDMI programming is dealing with the fact they are hot-swappable and the device is always monitoring for it.

This looks like it was the cause. In HDMI mode, change the PCH to component, change the startup script, pull the HDMI connector, change TV to component, run the script from the PCH menu, into GBPVR. OK this time going into and out of playing recording - no more "buffering" messages.

The only downside for me with component is that it looks washed out compared to HDMI and there are no TV menu controls that tweak individual inputs. Also the gbpvr menu and recordings are oversized, but ISTR that can be a function of config.xml

I'm certainly in a better situation than first thing this morning!

thanks for your guidance.
