I've been using GB-PVR with MediaMVP on Vista 64 over hard-wired network for some time with no problems. I recently changed to verizon FIOS, and was forced to use their router instead of my Linksys BEFR81. The Linksys was downgraded to a switch and verizon's actiontec router is providing DHCP service. Since that change, I can no longer connect to the MediaMVP to the server. I just get "Connecting to first server" and it fails after Attempt (30/30). This is the only change. My network is otherwise fully functional: sharing between os-x and vista, print servers, everything working, etc.

Any ideas as to what might cause this problem? I'm assuming there is some config I need to change on the new router, but I don't know what it could be.

not sure if you got it working but heres a couple ideas, if your using dongle.bin.config with mvpmc maybe your gbpvr server has dif ip then befor on your old router. also be sure you have mvp servers set to at least 1 in gbpvr config. you could also try the hauppauge mvp software and see how that works. can you ping your mvp? and also maybe your firewall changed if your using vista or maybe some settings changed joining new network.

Run a program like Look@Lan. Can you see the IP of the MVP?
Have you pulled the plug on the MVP and let it reboot to get a new IP from the FIOS router?
When you say the BEFR was downgraded to a switch did you disable DHCP in the router or setup DHCP on the WAN side of the router to lease from the FIOS router? If that is the case, you separated the network into two segments that won't communicate with each other. Objects connected to the FIOS router by wire will not communicate with objects behind the BEFR. You CAN, however, access objects FROM the BEFR TO the FIOS router. This makes diagnosing a bit trickier since there is a one way street
BTW, you can ask Verizon to put their router in 'Bridged' mode and use your BEFR as the main router again. I set up these networks bridges for clients all the time. You aren't forced to use the Router component of Verizon's equipment.
And as a final test, stop the Recording service, reload the Haup software and see if IT can fire up on the MVP. If it doesn't the problem is most likely IP related.

Good Luck
