Can't reinstall client

I had gbpvr 1.3.11 up and running for months on a Windows 2000 Server when it suddenly stopped working. If I tried to run it I got an error message: "System.Xml.XmlException: Root element is missing." After a quick search of this forum it seemed that some portion of the program was corrupted or missing. I tried to re-install overtop of the previous version but it wouldn't let me so I manually uninstalled the program since I couldn't find an uninstall program in the folder, or the start group, or even under Windows add and remove programs. I also used regclean to delete any unassociated registry entries. I then applied some Windows updates. When I try to reinstall the program it does a rollback and says "Install finished prematurely due to an error." Is there somewhere it logs the error? Is there something I'm missing that I need to do to allow me to reinstall the program?

That sounds like you config.xml is corrupt. Maybe try deleting it and replacing it with a copy of config-dont-edit-me.xml.

Well I don't have anything atm since I deleted all (except backups of config.xml and gbpvr.db3. Is there a way to get install to work now?

I'd just reinstall it, and not restore your copy of config.xml. If it still doesnt start, then zip and attach the logs and I'll check why.

But install doesn't work. It installs then starts a roll back, deletes everything, and gives error.

Sorry, I dont know then. I really dont understand how the MSI installer stuff works.

It might have added a message to the Windows Event Viewer telling you something useful.

Is recordingservices running when you look in task manager? Maybe you didnt get a complete uninstall?
