Anyway to reduce the delay between the GB and the stb. I have about a 5 second delay from when GB receives the channel from the remote to when it actually changes the channel on the stb.

what blaster are you using? and what's the livetv delay set to in config?
are you using preview mode for livetv?

IR blaster (came with Haup PVR 150). Live TV delay set to 500. Not sure about preview mode. Where can I find that?

I don't use a ir blaster, so forgive me if I'm off, but it sounds like your blaster is sending the digits of the channel but not the required button to make the channel change (usually whatever button on the remote is 'enter' or 'ok'), so the STB just sits there waiting for more potential keypresses until it times out and changes the channel. If that's the case you need to configure your blaster program to send the digits followed by the 'enter' button for an instant change.
edit: the wiki says this on the matter: Quote:For using Hauppauge Remote and its IR Blaster for channel change, select HaupBlast.exe found in GBPVR install directory. Make sure Hauppauge blaster is working by running IR Blaster configuration utility found with Hauppauge programs.(emphasis added)

I did the IR configuration before I installed GB and I don't remember an "enter" type button being part of the configuration. I don't have the htpc with me right now, but if I remember correctly it I would punch in the digits from the remote and see them appear on GB pretty quickly but then there would be that delay of GB sending that channel to the stb. I'll check tomorrow though. Long day today ![]()

I don't have a set top box at all, just using several tuners connected to an antenna so all the tuning is done internally.

I'll check tomorrow though. I guess what we need to know is if the delay is coming from GB-PVR, the blaster, or the STB. My theory is that it's the STB timing out that you're seeing. But of course I can't see what's happening, I'm just providing the most likely educated guess that fits the described symptoms. If you describe EXACTLY what you see and when you see it when you change channels that may help. Also, if you post your PVRX2 logs (both regular and -native), we can verify that the haupblast is in fact happening immediately after you request a channel change (the logs are timestamped down to the millisecond).

I thought it sounded like you were in timeshift mode, not live preview...which is alot faster on channel changes..
timeshift mode is about a 5sec delay...preview is immediate.. ![]() and when you punch in numbers in gbpvr, if you hit 'ok' after, it will work a *little* faster.. [just to be sure how much unintended delay there is,it normally pauses a bit to let you hit a 3rd or 4th digit] been a while since i used my 150 remote, but it was always pretty zippy at changes.. btw, i use HIP and an MCE blaster with my pvr150 remote.. ![]() ![]()

I didn't think that was it because the default live tv pre-delay is only 1/2 second. The max is 4 seconds, so it was reasonable to ask if he had maxed it out... but he said it was still at 500ms.

I see the corresponding channel show up rather quickly on GB. Along with the name of the program and it's description. About 5-6 seconds later the channel on the stb changes. The lights on the blaster however light up right after I press ok. I actually experienced the same problem when configuring the ir blaster so I'm not so sure it's GB's problem.. I'm using an FTA box (Viewsat). Not sure if that makes a difference. How do I get the log? |
