Hi,

I have read with interest the following thread about the timing of comskip and .ts files and the understandable difficulties of getting gbpvr to playback .ts files and matching up with the comskip edl:

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=39687

Because of a need to stream to a client machine and poor performance with ATI and numerous cyberlink muxes, I really like using the TS mux.

As part of my postprocessing.bat I do convert the .ts to .mpg using ffmpeg (with the -vcodec copy and -acodec copy - ie basic stream copy), then I run comskip on the converted .mpg.

I still notice the same commercial timing issues when the .mpg is played back with GBPVR as per the .ts as mentioned in the above thread. Unfortunately I don't really understand the ts/mpg format details so maybe this is expected.

Are there any suggestions on what I can do as part of the mpg conversion process such that generated .mpg will avoid the issues seen with the .ts and commercial timing.

Or any other suggestions whilst still using the TS mux?

Thanks heaps.

i believe this is a known bug with client mode, comskip goes off a bit the longer it plays..
doesn't seem to matter which mux you use tho..[at least not for me]

you might also want to try in ffmpeg line: " -fflags +genpts" [generate new pts] or alternatively, " -copyts" [copy timestamps]
but i'm not sure they will work if not re-encoding...

Thanks pBS. I will give it a try.

Just a note, I see the problem on both the client machine and the server machine.

Hi pBS.

Tried it with -fflags +genpts and on the few recording so far the timing of the commercials seems to be pretty accurate.

At this stage it looks to be the solution, so I'll keep it going and report later once a few more recordings have gone through.
