Hi, according to the blurb on the box, with this dual DVB-T tuner card I can "watch one channel, record on another channel" or "record on two channels".

However, when I'm using GB-PVR I've discovered I can record on up to 5 channels at once.

The Recording Status shows both tuners, having scheduled five manual recordings, it has one recording on the first tuner and the other four on the second.

I've checked and all recordings are complete.

My question is; is this normal? Is this the standard functionality of GB-PVR? Have I missed an important readme about it, and if so where?

Thanks!

By careful checking of what stations are on which MUX you could get around 12 channels recording simultaneously on the two tuners.

Would the PCI bus handle 12 simultaneous channels?

I think the real question is: how many simultaneous recordings can my hard disk system cope with. You can probably calculate it if you mutiply the average dvb-t bitrate by the no. of channels and compare to your disk/systems throughput. 12 sounds a tad high to me.

[edit] by which I mean I don;t think it is the pci bus that is the limiting factor as (AFAIK) each dvb-t tuner can only ouptu one mux. It is gbpvr that then splits the channels out from the mux.

Multirecord was an fantastic addition to gbpvr.

I just fired up my test machine that has a nova-t-500 in it and set it up for all available channels (including the garbage ones)....
I found I could record 13 channels from two mux's simultaneously and the hard disk light was just ticking over and not running flat out. Task manager performance was sitting at around 8 percent. Playing a few of the recordings shows they are fine with no signs of dropouts.

Now that will impress little brother when he turns up.

Was this as a test or real use? I can't imagine there being 18 programs on at the same time that I really wanted to watch!
