when i set a machine for client mode, use it, then go back into config and set back to regular local capture card, it doesn't set the tcp part back to tcp://localhost:7968

so you end up with a system halfway between the two, looks like a local install, but tries to control the remote recording service! [and of course not working]

been this way for several releases so just hoping to bump it up for this next release..Smile

I'm unable to reproduce this problem here.

I'm fairly sure this only happens if you have a plugin installed which saves the config.xml file from inside PVRX2.exe.

I've seen this as well and have to keep copies of config.xml for client and server on my test machine.
It seems like a one way street - can go from server to client but not back.
I'll make sure I'm running a minimal system later today with no plugins to confirm or not later on. (although I'm fairly sure my test system has no plugins anyway).

now it never changes...seems to only happen in fresh install that goes client first..
when is <!-- Remote client settings -->
<RecordingServiceLocation>tcp://127.0.0.1:7968/RecordingRemote</RecordingServiceLocation>
supposed to change?
seems to work fine in client mode and local capture mode with the 127. setting..?
i guess in client mode this only concerns the tray app?
setting app to client mode doesn't change that at all here..2 machines..

well, will see if i can figure out exact steps to reproduce..thanx

I get the feeling that section may be obsolete??? The bit further up seems to be the bits used - up and around....

it does control where the tray app is getting data from tho...oops, no just needed to restart it.:o
i'm gonna setup a win7 system so i'll take good notes on steps then..

i just know something set the recording service to the client's server name, just not sure what, cuz i can't get it to reproduce yet..

i think it does it when very first setup is client, [it makes sense to have the tray app reflect server's info instead of local] but it won't overwrite existing settings if they exist..
[so it won't change it back to localhost]

Its supposed to always be set to the value you've shown above, even when its in client mode. When PVRX2 runs, it temporarily replaces that setting in memory with an updated one that points to the server, but that update is never supposed to be written to disk. The problem happens when something running in the PVRX2.exe forces the config.xml to be saved to disk.

Regardless, I've fixed the problem for the next release.

sweet...sorry to be a pain..hope the new one's out soon...Big Grin

i'm updating the HIP pre-programmed key reference right now, the old one was way back from when gbpvr.exe was .exe and 32771 codes were used so it wouldn't work at all nowdays..
