Hi

at this point, I solved almost all my problems. Got a better MPEG decoder to avoid stuttering playback, and a new antenna and new coax cable to get me a decent signal.

But one issue remains: encrypted channels.

I got it to work, with both acamd and yankse. And I have a selection of 5 different mdapifilters and 5 different TS mux to test combinations

But I get this behaviour on all:

- Disable MDapi => near perfect FTA channels
- Enable MDapi and FTA channels become heavily artefacted in live, but still near perfect in record/playback
- Encrypted channels do decode, but are extremely artefacted in live, and heavily artefacted in record/playback
- CPU is never too high

It seems to not matter which version of mdapi or mux I take.

Who can help? Who can explain why live and record behave different? What logs should I provide?

Thanks

A mdapifilter.log of a few seconds of FTA, causing artefacts.

P4 2.6GHz 768Mb Hauppage NOVA T500 dual DVB-T
dedicated system Win XP Sp3 (with quartz & usbehci fixes).

[Edit] I am working with a valid subscription smartcart. No use asking me for conax keyfiles, sorry.

Well, just checked 1.4.7, I had hopes it may work, since the MDapi and CI code was touched, but alas..

It took me a short while to figure out the MDapi activation is now in the device settings, rather than the Misc2 settings.

But still the same bahaviour:

FTA => good
FTA + MDapi; via life TV, bad
FTA + MDapi; via time-shift, good

I had a Nova T500 card a year ago or so. Never got it to work with mdapi. Seems there are still the same problems. Had to replace the card with another, a Terratec 2400 wich worked better. But not well...
There are new mdapi filters around. Have you tried them? They may help.
Look here.

*Both* summer 2009 MDapi versions are among my collection, yes, thanks.

And you figure the MDapi issue may have to do with the Nova card.

Is an interesting thought, but the issue is, I have got them to work, but the video is heavily artefacted, and oddly, the artifacts seem (partly) to be introduced by GBPVR's life vs time-shift modes.
So I am not so sure I want to trow money at such a long shot of replacing hardware.

Also, I have only limited space in my slim-barebone, so the low-profile dual tuner is a good fysically.

Anyway, I'll wait a bit till sub had dealt with all the fall-out from the new version. And maybe I can simply buy a CI slot...

Ah, I missed the fact that you got it working in timeshift mode. I never got it working at all. Very low fps with totally garbled video...
My Twinhan Ter-CI card (without the CI module but with multidec instead) worked great in contrast in Live TV mode as well as in timeshift. But it was a while ago I tested the Nova. I suspect drivers might have imprioved a lot since then.
