I have just replaced my single tuner HVR-1250 with an Avermedia Duet. The Duet has two tuners on the card, and I've verified both work by installing the BeyondTV trial software. I've made the bda.ini changes recommended in this thread:
-----
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...light=duet

[AverMedia Duet A188]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
FILTER_TUNER=AVerMedia 716x BDA ATSC Tuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=AVerMedia 716x BDA Digital Capture ATSC
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

[AverMedia Duet A188 (QAM)]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
TUNING_SPECIAL=2
FILTER_TUNER=AVerMedia 716x BDA ATSC Tuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=AVerMedia 716x BDA Digital Capture ATSC
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
----
GB-PVR sees one of the two tuners, but not the other one. (can't view live TV while recording one program and can't record two programs at once.) I did notice that the TUNING_SPECIAL parameter is only in the QAM section. Is is as simple as adding the same to the ATSC section?

What happens when you try?

Did you create two capture sources, one as device #1, the other as device #2?

When I try, it gives me a dialog asking if I want to cancel the current recording in progress. If I try watching live TV when I'm recording, it gives me the choice of watching what I'm recording or canceling that recording.

I did not create two capture sources, because I had no way (I knew of) to uniquely identify one tuner vs. the other tuner.

You need to create 2 capute sources for the avermedia both the same way but make sure you set one as device #1 and the other as device #2 if you do this it should allow you to use both. Make sure you do the channel scans for both and set up EPG's for both

Also just a general questions for me and i know other will want to know, do you have access to Cable qith QAM channels, i would really like to know if you are able to pic up QAM tv with this card in GBPVR
HTPC Server: 2.3gh AMD Quad 9600, 4GB ram, 320gb HDD, 1TB HDD, and 750GB External USB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce 8600gt, Win 7 (32bit), (2x) HVR2250 using QAM

You're talking about using config to create a new capture device, correct? No other change to the bda.ini file?

I'll have a hard time testing QAM since I don't get cable, but ATSC and DirectTV. Sorry. I do have a cable modem, but I wouldn't think there's QAM on that line.

Correct. Add a second capture source and in the screen where you select the device ([AverMedia Duet A188] for ATSC), select the same board but set the "Device Number" to "2".

As for QAM, it's unlikely that you have it with internet only service. Your line is probably filtered but you can try if you want. I would try it with a QAM capable TV first if you have one.

It is possible that there is cable, i am not sure if there will be QAM. From what i understood from comcast a while back basic cable may be transmitted i guess its worth a try if you're willing

Good news is that GB sees both tuners. I can record two programs at a time.

Bad news is that the recordings don't have sound. When I map channels, I hear sounds. When I choose "Live TV" I hear sound. When I play recordings I had taped prior to adding the second device, I hear sound.

I can play the recordings with KMplayer, and the sound plays. So I guess there is some configuration issue inside GBPVR.

Any ideas?

Its most likely just related to the decoders you have selected on the playback tab of the config app. Try other decoders.

Turns out on the Misc2 page, under BDA Multiplexer, the only setting that seems to work for me is "Microsoft DVR-MS". I can't use any of the other settings TS Mux, MainConcept, Full TS.

I now get sound with the video, and two tuners are working. Thanks to all for the help!
