Guys

The digital conversion is forcing me to use an IR blaster to change channels on a STB. my 2250 came with an adapter for composite input to the 2nd tuner so I think I can get 2 STBs attached. However, how do I tell GB-PVR to use the 2 IR blasters? Does Haupblast need an argument to tell it which blaster to fire? Or does the fact that GB-PVR configures the 2 internal tuners as separate devices take care of that? i.e. I just tell both 2250 devices to use haupblast, and they each use exclusively one of the two blasters?
An unrelated question, I don't have any HD screens now but I may get one in the future. If I do, can I record HD content from the STB with my 2250? Is it output over composite or do I need a different capture device

Thanks for any help

Unfortunately the Hauppauge blaster software can only configured for one set top box, so you'd need a different type of blaster (like an MCE blaster, or USB-UIRT) to control a second STB.

You can only do analog recordings from your STB. The analog on the inputs on the 2250 (and every other card) will only record SD. The only option that exists today for recording HD from a STB is the Hauppauge HD-PVR, which can recording 720p/1080i component video.

Thanks sub, I really appreciate your quick replies. I made a mistake in my original post, my 2250 came with an MCE remote, an IR receiver and 2 IR blasters. So I guess I have an MCE-blaster, and I will use HIP as detailed in the Higuide2 section of the Wiki. So now my question is, has anyone set this up successfully? Any gotchas using hte Hauppauge MCE package?

Yep - correct. You should be able to use two blasters in this type of setup.
