I have a new nettop computer with dual core atoms and Nvidia ION (Geforce 9400M) that I run as a gbpvr client with Win7 x64. Everything works perfectly except I get no sound on Live TV and recordings. I notice that I do get sound on older mpeg recordings, but nowdays I use ts mux. I have other client installations on XP which works fine.

When mounting the gbpvr server shares and playing the ts files outside gbpvr in wmp I have no problems at all. I have also tried every possible and impossible combination of audio decoders and renderers, but no luck.

I'll attach the logs...

EDIT: replaced logs with debug setting on. Previous was info only.

Missing audio will just be related to the decoder you're using. If the decoders you have on your machine dont do it, then you may need to install a different decoder.

Well, I have tried cyberlink, MPEG audio, ffdshow and the win7 specific decoder, I think it was MS DTV-DVD or something. Everything works in pretty much every other app I have tried as wmp and mcp-hc. And I have similar setups on the other computers as well that works. The mystifying bit is that I get no audio only on TS media files and only when played inside gbpvr. If they were created as mpeg's instead they work. The mpegs are from the same type of DVB-T sources with similar audio streams. Just a bit older recordings using a mpeg mux instead of the ts mux.

Dont use the 'MS DTV-DVD Audio Decoder' or 'MPEG Audio Decoder'. These are known not to work. New versions of the Cyberlink decoder also do not play nicely with 3rd party apps. ffdshow may need to pvrx2.exe added to the list of apps the decoder will be used with.

If its just AC3 channels, try installing AC3Filter. Otherwise try http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPA_Decoder.htm

Still no luck... Tried the ffdshow settings you suggested.
I have tried everything I can think of and a lot more too.
The following excerpt is from the logs. First I play an mpeg file. No problems.
Second file is a ts file. No audio... Both should have mpeg audio.

The funny thing(?) is that the graph shoes ffdshow plus MS DTV-DVD and Cyberlink!? I thought it should show only the preferred audio filter?

To be absolutely clear it is only media files with the ts container I have problems with, and only from within gbpvr.

This is because ffdshow decoder refused to connect (probably because the audio format wasnt enabled, or pvrx2.exe wasnt on the app list), so it tried a second decoder, which unfortunately was the MS DTV DVD decoder which also isnt going to work. The Cyberlink decoder is video decoder, so not relevant.

Try this audio decoder: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPA_Decoder.htm

It turns out you were right. As usual... Wink

The thing that put me on the wrong track was that I got these errors on ts files only, but I did not actally test with streaming mpeg files in which case the audio decoder probably would have failed also.

The problem was that neither Cyberlink, MS DTV-DVD or ffdshow worked!
I had gotten a faulty build of ffdshow. The first time this has ever happened to me. I first tried the MPA Decoder and it worked, I then downloaded another build of ffdshow and it worked too. So now everything works as it should. I still have some minor stability questions regarding startup on live tv streaming in the client that sometimes strangely fails. I'll investigate further and come back in another thread.

And, I also realized that I haven't actually paid a penny for the outstanding support I have always gotten through the years. A donation is on the way as soon as I can get track on my paypal account!
