When playing back recorded videos the video pauses every few minutes, the sounds is still playing but the video pauses.

If I hit the play button or FWD or backwards it starts playing normal again, but will pause in a few minutes.

Anyone have any suggestions?

thanks,
Tom

does it always pause in the same place when you playback a recording?

If so, the problem is with the recording of the program.

If the problem appears random, it's a playback issue so try a different MPEG decoder.

What tuner are you using and what type of tv channels are you receiving?

again, perhaps reproduce the problem and zip and upload the pvr*log files

I get the same problem. I set up GBPVR for my school library to record video for classes but they now say it is unusable. Recordings used to be perfect but now it pauses video at the same place but the audio continues. I am using 3x Winfast DTV1000T cards in a 3GHz Pentium IV machine with 2GB RAM. I am about to reinstall from scratch. Currently installed latest version of GBPVR, recording exclusively using web interface.

I'm having the same problem. It seems to only do it for 1080i recordings (using dvr-ms). It doesn't matter what decoder I use. It is after a period of time during playback. If I rewind slightly, it is ok for the certain amount of time (2 or 3 minutes). It is not the recording.

Logs attached. After about 3 minutes of runtime, the show freezes then I stopped it and closed PVRX2.

By the terms of use of the GBPVR license it might not be.

I think my problem was my server not streaming this particular file very well. I had some trouble moving it off the server. Once I did it, it plays fine.

well if it is not the recordings, then is it likely to be the decoders. Having tried various decoders, have you checked your log file each time to see what decoders you are using.

Not sure if that ffdshow raw video filter is supposed to be in the loop. Here is my playback chain using SAF codec pack (search forum)

Also, your pvrx2 log has a zillion messages written to the log every second saying "flushDatabaseConnections"

Looks like it might be related to the web radio or weather plugin. try disabling these plugins to ellimiate possible causes.

it happens alot to me too! I taped some vedioes for my son with a Sony camera, when I copied them to my PC and play them, every few seconds it'd pause for 2 seconds. I guess it also could be the player's problem!

As mentioned in another thread about live TV pausing, I get it now a lot with H264 1080i recordings which never used to happen. Although for me the sound pauses too so maybe it's not related to this issue. It's not the recording as when playing back over again it doesn't do it at the same point.

I wouldn't use this thread for "my playback is stuttering" posts. There isn't really much to learn from this thread and the OP didn;t respond.

There appear to be different situations here that may have different causes.

As a general rule. if it skips in the same place every time, its likely to be a recording issue. Otherwise it is likely to be codecs, codec or gbpvr settings, disk fragmentation, interupt clashes, lack of CPU/graphics powerm other tasks interupting playback, the phase of the moon etc.

Best thing to do is to set logging to debug, reproduce the problem and upload the logs indicating which recording skips and at what time it skipped.

(If you already have error logging at debug, it might also be worth checking if the problem does away of you set error logging to "info" level in case gbpvr is logging excessively and causing the problem. just a thought.)
