I've searched and no luck! This is the story, I installed 1.0407 and 1.0311 with the same results.

First, I have a HVR-1600 with FIOS. Digital QAM and a SD STB. Every time I install I have gotten everything working where I can watch any current program, but nothing will record. I ran it in XP compatibility mode and that did nothing. It will pretend to record, turn red and use the tuner, but their is no file (yes the directories are set up).

I'm not new to GBPVR so I don't think I missed anything obvious.

Second, no sound on digital channels no matter what I change, picture is fine, just no sound. Fyi, system was doing pretty well under XP, also HD recording and playback is excellent with Media Center.

Thanks, the AC3Filter fixed the sound issue.

Re: the recording issues, UAC is off, but no love!

I set a show to record, it lights up red, I go to Video Library to look for it. It's not there, I go back to the Guide and the recording stops!

I tried running in compatibility mode and w/w/o Administrator. Nothing.

I doubt it's a driver issue with the card (as MC records fine).

Any ideas anyone?

Still fooling with this, a weird MVP problem may be related. The MVP screen pops up fine (with both dongles) but no recorded videos even show up, even though they do on the PC.

Also of note, the "recordings" that don't record are still listed in the Recording section of GBPVR.

Any help would be appreciated.

you're getting access denied on the directory you're trying to record to:
Code:
2009-10-11 14:24:08.423    ERROR    [5]    Error starting recording: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'F:\Video\NFL Football' is denied.
I had limited time, and figured it probably had something to do with UAC-related permissions funkyness.
First, of course you'll need to be sure that path does in fact exist. Then make sure System (aka the Local System Account) has full access to that directory. If that doesn't get it done, you can change the GB-PVR recording service to login as the same user that runs PVRX2, and of course ensure THAT user has full access to the recording directory. This change is done in the Services control panel.

oh, no idea on the MVP issue. perhaps mvallevand will see this, or you'll need to post that aspect in the mvp forum.

Thanks Johnsonx42, that did it. Something about Win7, you can actually manipulate permissions via right clicks, but there is only one user (me) and both files were set to run as administrator and UAC is shut off.

So I set the folder to "Sharing" with the HomeGroup, that did it. mvallenvand's expertise will not be needed either, as that was the problem with the MVP as well.

Little dumb stuff like this is the only grief I've had with Win7, it's been great otherwise.
