New install: crash/hang problems

Machine:
Windows 2000 professional, with all service patches and 2.6 mdac.
Uneec Fur Fusion HK7N with Duron 800mhz, 512mb ram, 80gb HDD.
Hauppauge PVR-350.

Problem: Just about got everything setup, and it appears to work pretty well. However sometimes when changing channel, or trying to exit back to the menu from tv mode, the machine will hang. Only option is to reboot.

Any ideas?

This is a noted problem for some GBPVR users (including myself) with the PVR350 using LiveTV (and using the PVR350 TV Out). Seems to be a driver issue which may never(?) get fixed. I've tried the latest drivers from shspvr.com without success. I do not use the LiveTV function anymore... just too unstable.

Software decoding doesn't have this problem, but that defeats the purpsoe of having the PVR350 mpeg hardware decoding. Given that you have a Duron 800MHz, you may not get smooth playback anyway using the software decoding option.

So is it a certain board design thats the problem, or a combination of OS/Drivers?

How many people are affected by this, and has anyone got a successful workaround?

Do a search in this forum on the PVR350. There is a thread somewhere which discusses this issue. It has to do only with the PVR350 which  has both hardware encoding AND hardware decoding. The hardware decoding using the PVR350 (which uses the PVR350's TV-out) is the problem. I believe that it has something to do with the card's drivers and OSD (someone else can correct me if I'm wrong), and neither Hauppauge or shspvr drivers work for me, so I just use GBPVR for recording, not LiveTV.

I wouldn't mind hearing from people out there using the PVR350 as to whether or not they have this LiveTV freezing issue, and the OS, driver version, and motherboard they are using... just to see if there are combinations out there that work.
