Last night I ran windows update and installed all of the updates available and I noticed one of them was for .Net. I'm not sure if this is related, but it's the only thing I can think of that I changed since the web interface broke. It was working yesterday prior to that update.

Now, whenever I visit the web interface, I get:

http://127.0.0.1:7777/gbpvr/Login.aspx
Title: The resource cannot be found.
Text:
Server Error in '/gbpvr' Application.
The resource cannot be found.
Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.

Same problem here. It must have been either a bug in the new GB-PVR that only occurred after a reboot or those latest windows updates.
It's probably the windows updates, nearly every time new ones come out they screw something up on my computer. Since the last big set about a month ago I've been getting user profile errors each time I log into my computer (on a local account), though everything still works fine after that anyway.

Holy crap, 10 Windows updates in a month? Ouch.

I'm kind of hesitant to install the .NET update after reading about your experiences. I think I'll hold off myself.

Make sure to install the rest of them; there's some important security updates.

rtiangha:

Actually there were 13 patches released on Tuesday.. been dealing with that since then, trying to arrange for patching test systems and testing apps and scheduling production server patches... PITA

I didn't mess with the .NET patch until I see something from SUB, personally.

I believe sub said he was going to look into the errors that occur post-Windows Update. Something with Cassini, I believe he said. There's a post for it somewhere not too far from this one.

I'm assuming it's related to this:

Unfortunately, the cassini website seems pretty slow to respond.

If you have already (like I had) installed the .NET Framework 1.1 patch and killed your Cassini web service, you can get it back easily:

Go to add/remove programs in the control panel and uninstall the "Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 patch (KB886903)". Make sure that you don't have your computer set to auto-install patches, either. I would think that would have it reinstalling then!

Excellent, thanks!

Worked perfectly for me.

Now we just have to wait and see when the cassini folks will figure out what the problem is. ;-)

I think the real solution to the .Net update may in fact to just clean up the /web/bin directory as sub sugested elsewere...

http://gbpvr.com/cgi-bin....+delete

[b Wrote:Quote[/b] ]Just delete everything from the c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\web\bin\ directory excep gbweb.dll and gbweb.pdb, then restart the recording service.
I did this last night and it works fine now in spite of the fact that I still have the .Net patch installed.
