If I pause playing back a recording on the NMT then sometimes when resuming, the video starts ok, but there is no sound. Pressing stop then play with resume usually gets back to the right point with sound.

I'm not sure is caused by the NMT or GBPVR, but I will keep my eyes open and try doing the same with PC clients and on the server..

Pause at around 2009-12-21 19:51:20 and
resume around 2009-12-21 20:02:26

both using the play key to pause/resume

Hi Martin.

If its anything, it would be the NMT side, the logs like fine. My guess is that you have some HDMI and EDID relatated timeout on your monitor and I"d only be able to see the response via telnet. I wouldn't want to do an a/v reset at this point, my guess it is going through some reset after the wakeup period, which is why it works after the restart.

This goes hand in hand with my screen saver on pause that I asked sub to consider for 1.5.x GBPVR already saves the location when pause is hit, so if the video was actually stopped GBPVR enters a paus screen saver state, the following resume would likely solve this kind of issue.

Thanks for the response Martin, I'm a little confused regarding your comments about possible HDMI timeouts as pressing play (well play on the Hauppauge remote) starts the video off fine, it is only the sound that is absent. (normal mpeg files to HDMI TV)
If I have the opportunity tomorrow, I'll try to see if there is a fairly fixed time period where it is fine shorter, but fails later.

Just like on the PC, the NMT have both audio and video decoders all synced by a hardware clock. I am speculating there is an HDMI handshake problem or clock problem after a certain period of time that is causing this. I tried some 10+ minute component analog test with no problems which made me point the finger to HDMI. It might be something unrelated like your drive going to sleep causing some initial lag, skipping back might help if that was the case. The only way that I might get this is via telnet logs, even then a solution is unlikely, unless behind the scene mvpmcx2 exited the file and restarted on its own at the same location.

Thanks again for the explanation Martin. I've been in all day today and pausing 20 minutes, restarting all day and it has all behaved perfectly - either sods law or starting it with telnet changed something.

Not to worry, it is not a major problem and resume (after a meal) works fine 99% of the time (the 1% is down to timeline problems restarting).

thanks again.
