Hi,

All of a sudden I'm getting no sound in some recordings. For instance, I've recorded 4 Shaun the Sheep progs today. 2 have sound, 2 don't.

This month, I've recorded 48 programmes and 27 don't have sound, 21 do.

I can't see anything that gives me any indication of what is the cause. Sound on my XP pc is fine for everything else.

I've attached my logs in the hope that somebody might spot something.

Many thanks.

Is every recording on that channel (that had 'shaun the sheep') also missing the sound?

If so, can you see if temporarily setting it to use the 'TS Mux' results in audio returning?

The recordings are made either on BBC2 Wales or CBBC. I can't tell you without checking which produces the soundless recordings. I'll have a look.

Now that I've looked, the recordings made on BBC2 have sound and the ones on CBBC do not have sound now.

I've set the recording to TSMux - on the Config Misc2 BDA setting. Hope that's right.

I'm guessing they've changed the audio PIDs, so what you've currently got mapped is no longer correct. The TS Mux doesnt care what audio PIDs were mapped, and auto detects them. Other muxers will give no audio if the audio PID is incorrect.

Okay. How can I convert the .TS file to MPEG?

I;ve sort of answred my question in that a forum search led me to Handbrake, which I'm trying out on the .ts file.

What concerns me is that I normally use the Cyberlink Mux which usually works perfectly. Having to convert .ts file manually could be a pain.

Using the TS Mux for some tests was only check the theory.

You can probably fix it for the Cyberlink mux by rescanning an remapping the problem channel(s).

Okay, thanks for the advice.

It seems that a re-scan-a-day helps you work rest & play. (You got to be old to know that advert!).

I found that Handbrake didn't quite do it for me. Seems very Mac-based.
I've found that Emicsoft HD Video Convertor does it all quickly.

Have to rescan during the day whilst the channels are live. Let you know what happens.

Thanks

I've re-scanned and there is still no sound on CBBC/CBEEBIES if I use the Cyberlink Mux. If I use the TS Mux sound is there, but I need to convert the files to .mpg afterwards.

Look for something else on the DigitalSpy forums I came across the "trick" of renaming .ts files to .mpg which allows WMP to play them as normal. Strange that.
