I just installed GB-PVR. I have an HVR-2250, and I am using an external Motorola DCH3200 STB. No matter what I do, I cannot seem to get any TV picture, just a black screen. Here are my settings right now, which I thought should work:

Capture Sources:
Recording Source: Analog Recording Plugin
EPG Source: SchedulesDirect
Channel Changer: .exe Changer Plugin

Recording Source:
Capture Card Type: Hauppauge HVR-2250
Country: USA
Board Number: Capture Device #1
Source: S-Video, External Tuner

I have also tried many other settings. My system info is in my signature.

If 'system default' is the only option listed, it probably means you dont MPEG2 decoder installed, which would be required to see anything.

In addition to subs questions... Is your external channel changer set to haupblast.exe, and an external blaster with IR set on your STB from the 2250, and fixed channel (assuming channel 3) setup? Is the IR blaster flashing at all?

You didn't mention your hardware setup as far as blasting your STB, so I figured I would attempt to table it too. Maybe more info as far as your setup if our few questions don't trigger a fix.

Its actually using s-video for the input, and the channels are changing fine using commands sent through firewire. Im actually getting a picture now, and it looks good, yet I have a different problem now. I have another computer setup as a client only, and everytime I try to watch live tv on that computer, GBPVR freazes up and stops responding.

Try setting up the client streaming as FILE SHARING and not STREAMING it should work fine.

Does streaming not work? I tried it with file sharing like you suggested and now its playing, but it certainly is not watchable. The picture is strobing. Also for some reason I got the cable box information screen popping up every 2 seconds on the client (doesn't happen on the server).

While I was at it, I decided to try the net radio, and noticed that it wont even play that either on the client, only the server. Instead it just says buffering forever.. and yes my internet connection is just fine on this computer. I then decided to try to play some mp3s, and notice that right when I select any of them it takes me back to the main menu instead of playing.

Also after the client was crashing so much, I tried a repair install, and it said there was a problem, and reversed the operation. I ended up uninstalling and then reinstalling to get it working again before trying any of this stuff I mentioned in this post. How many people actually use a client/server setup with this program, cause it just seems to have so many problems its overwhelming.

There is a known bug that causes this. The work around is to create the same recording path on the client as you have on the server. ie, if the server recordings to "c:\tv", then you need a "c:\tv" directory on the client.

Client/server support is not very good, and needs some focused attention to improve it. Unfortunately it hasnt seen any improvement in years. In general though, file streaming should work better than file sharing for analog devices.

I created the same folder structure on the client like you said, and it seems to actually be working now. It does still freeze up after a while, or when changing channels sometimes still. Is there maybe something I can do to stop that from happening? Here is the only log that was written to just before the time it froze up.
