Hi, ive been looking at this for a while, however i like the MVP as when i turn it on i get GBPVR and all menus i want it to see....

I know with NMT it has its own OS built in you can connect via SMB to Windows then look at those files, however its a file share, not a GUI (so to speak).

But i just noted GBPVR used to say "MVP" now it says "MVP & NMT" in the tab and the tab has under NMT which skin you want.

So which NMT support the MVT type "what menu should i show" type interface?
Many Thanks
Ashley

I can confirm that the Popcorn Hour A-100 and A-110 support the GBPVR gui.
Have a look here it list several others.

Interesting read, however the "dummy install" method seems to install the whole of GBPVR, i already have this (for many years) and only replacing the MVP units...
Many Thanks

For many versions before 1.4.7 GPBVR needed a lot of patches to work properly and many NMT users had never installed GBPVR so it was logical to do both.

You certainly don't have to re-install GBPVR, I think I even wrote that in the dummies guide.

Ive read alot about this and it confuses me to bits...

MVP once powered on went off via DHCP to get an address, then looked for a server then got a dongle file which then booted and was given menus from GBPVR, done.......

I simplified the above to save on text Smile

NMT are going on about installing software, then doing shares, then failing to run something...... and it seems need to be "told" to run something to see the GBPVR server..... this doesnt seem to be anywhere near a replacement for a MVP...

Isnt there a dumb box that can replace the MVP yet? i have no issue with loading something in to a box, however i want 1 server (the one i have) and dumb clients that do what this server tells them to do.... NMT doesnt seem to do this (from what i have read anyway), that said it seems there a PC in there own right "emulating" a MVP so to speak..

The orginal question was the MVP tab seems to now have NMT in it as well, indicating there was a NMT out there that will do what MVP did (with no other configuration other than "ON" and thats it.

When i get confused about something i tend to not buy in to it (hence why i still have working MVP units) Smile.
Many Thanks
Ashley

The NMT does exactly what you're want, and for the most part works exactly the same as the MVP, with small exception of having to actively select GB-PVR from the NMT menus before you see the GB-PVR menus. After this it's almost exactly the same as the MVP, except can play high def files and large number of other file types. You're making it seem much more complicated than it is.

Even that can be overcome by using my index script from this link http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Hardware/NMT#toc17 which seems to work fine for most users.

BTW it is NO WHERE near as hard to setup as it appears when reading about it.

Handy to know, i have also sent an email to Hauppauge to ask about there new hardware for HD MVP and the HDPVR support as it doesnt use the MPEG2 format.
Many Thanks
