I'm tying to setup a HTPC and I may have leaped before I looked. I set up a system that runs nicely as a computer but I am having some difficulty setting it up to display on my TV and be controllable from a remote.

I originally purchased a single ATI TV WONDER remote card before I realized that two cards were needed to watch one show and record another.

Ultimately i would Like to be able to watch (and timeshift) one show while recording another, as well as start some external programs (Web browser, DVD player), and schedual recordings, and view programs listings all from one remote and view all of it on a Television set.

Most other sites suggest a Hauppages WIN-PVR 150 remote and WIN-PVR MCE cards and using the GB-PVR software. My question is, with those two cards and this software, can i do what I want?

Thanks

If you mean using a TV Wonder and a PVR-150, then no. GBPVR only uses cards with a hardware MPEG2 Encoder...

...unless you decide that you're going to use GBPVR exclusively for encoding. Using a hardware encoder only takes about 3% of your CPU so if you use that to record while using another application to view TV using the TV wonder, then it should work (if you did the opposite, i.e. use the TV Wonder exclusively for recording and GBPVR to watch TV, since watching TV using GBPVR takes about 30% CPU (needed to decode the signal in software), you may end up loosing frames when recording from your TV Wonder as it uses a software encoder and therefore is heavily dependent on the CPU).

So in that situation, you can do what you want, you'll just be switching between two applications.

Otherwise, two PVR-150s will let you do what you want all in GBPVR.

So, a Hauppauge 150-PVR and 150MCE are the way to go? Will the Remote that comes with the 150 work with GB-PVR?
