I have one PC configured as host and another as client. If the host is switched off, the PVR2 hangs launching it on the client.

Any advice?

thanks

Unfortunately GB-PVR's client/server support is pretty primitive, and it requires the server to be present when the application is launched. I hope to improve it in a future release.

I've got a landisk too. I 'm thinking to put the shared files in it. What are the GBPVR directory file that the client and host condivide?

I'm fairly sure it needs to talk to the server, so you cant just have them both sharing some lan folder.

Yup.. sharing folders isn't going to help. I've had the server going to sleep while the client was playing a video from a NAS drive (which both the server and client shared). The client would continue to play the file until it finished or I used the remote to stop the playback.. the client would then freeze because the server was gone.

Hasso

I just built a little app which gives a menu of local or remote gbpvr. chnages the config file, whch works OK - obviosuly you don't get sharing of your resume points for videos between client / server

I think it could be enough that the client doesn't hang when the host is down.
When the host is down the client will be able to work as a simple player. Do you think it's possible in the next release?

thank you
Aiace

PS
when's the next release?

The next release will hopefully be in about 4 weeks.

All I can give you is a maybe. I've made quite a few changes for the next release, and I've got a lot of work still to do to get that stuff working well.
