Hi
New to GB-PVR

? Technisat SkyStar USB 2 HD CI ?
Will GB-PVR work with this unit and if so how can I set it up.

Not in the hardware list and not detected as far as I can see ? ? ?

Thanks for any help

Assuming it's got BDA drivers, then the device should be usable for FTA channels. The CI part will not be usable though. If thats fine with you, then run the filtercheck.exe and post the filtercheck.log and I'll tell you what device definition you need to add to the bda.ini file.

Try adding this to your bda.ini file:

[Technisat USB]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-S
FILTER_TUNER=TechniSat UDST7000BDA DVBS Tuner0
FILTER_CAPTURE=TechniSat UDST7000BDA DVBS capture0
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2-Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=Input0
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2-Transport

Hi sub

Put that in and setup as best I can - added an epg . . .
Channels appeared.

Tried some other things but can't find anywhere that tuning happens ?

Status says TechniSat UDST7000BDA is in standby (something like that ?)
and the guide doesn't come up ? and no live TV !

I must do a lot more reading tomorrow . . .

Cheers
Pete

It sounds like you didnty do the 'map digital channels to epg channels' step, which does the channel scan.

Hi sub

Oh Yes - silly me. Sorry still learning what your nomenclature means - I have set a few channels now - do you have to manually map all the channels you want or is there an "automatic" method ? ?

Q2. Here in the UK we have a weird channel (ITV-HD) that doesn't report correctly and appears to be a radio channel to all tuners so manual PID and AC3 etc. have to be entered ! Is there a way to manually update a scanned channel to correct this. It appears as a channel named 10510.

Next thing I have to work out the recording settings for saving and transcoding and . . . for the HD channels especially ! ! !

Sorry for all the newby questions - I think I am getting closer now . . .

Cheers
Pete

ps. I set Auto-Convert TS recordings to: MPEG-2
When should this happen and where will the converted file be ? I set ASAP at first but nothing happened so I have set 01.00AM and 11.00PM.

What EPG source are you using? Have you found Birtles radio times grabber which is what most UK users go for?

GBPVR uses the channel names in the EPG ... when you do "Map Channels" and scan, GBPVR attempts to automagically map the names of the channels found in the scan to the names of the channels found in the EPG. This mostly works but can go haywire when try to map, for example, BBC 1 West to BBC ONE.

Thanks Graham

I will have a look for the Birtles radio times grabber.

Have you had any experience with the
Auto-Convert TS recordings to: MPEG-2 function ?

I am just hoping that GBPVR will save me lots of work getting to mpeg files from the ts files my hardware produces.

Also have you got ITV-HD workihg on your GBPVR rig ?

Cheers
Pete

Why do you need MPG files?

TS files contain a video stream in MPEG formt. On the Misc2 tab of config, you can set the BDA multiplexor ... I think that choosing Cyberlink or Mainconcept will cause recording to be in .MPG files... BUT you will need to install the corresponding .AX file. Some possibly obsolete info ...

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=25630

I don't got satellite so no HD for me. There is a stunt to get ITV-HD working but it passed me by ... try a forun search or post with ITV-HD in the thread title.
