A version of sub's DvbToXMLTV for NZ's DVB-T to hack out the EPG from the MHEG-5 data stream would be excellent, especially in the wake of the weekend's takedown notices by Sky NZ to EPG xml hosting web sites.
It would save having to buy a dish and DVB-S card purely for an epg and keep the Media PC from needing to access the internet at all.

I know it's a big ask thou.Smile

Thanks

Someone has done some work on an application to extract data from the New Zealand DVB-T broadcast MHEG-5 EPG. The project is hosted here: http://code.google.com/p/mheg2xmltv/

I understand that there are some unresolved issues and the application isn't "production-ready" yet.

I was never able to find a copy of the "ISO/IEC 13818-6" specification, otherwise I'd probably have looked into it by now. This specification describes the container format used for the delivery of MHEG-5 data, not the listings themselves, but is the hard bit of what is required.

Thanks, but unfortunately the 13818-6 spec isnt in those. I've hunted high and low for it in the past, and seem to remember visiting those same linkes.

Unfortunately '13818-6-1.pdf' is a small amendment document, that is intended as an update to part of the larger spec.

The preview document above is effectively the first chapter. ie, 35 pages of a 550 page document. 17 of those 35 are indexes for the stuff covered in the other 500 odd pages.

Yep, and some of these types of docs need to be read a few times before you get what they're trying to describe Smile

Good job. That looks like a winner.

I cant give you a timeframe for it to implemented, but I'll certainly look into it.
