In 2008 the original version of mvpmcx2 (PCH mode) came out that provided the GBPVR UI on the NMT with playback using the native NMT media players. The next evolution (PCH2 mode) came when Syabas provided the necessary information allowing me (with sub's help of course) to support most of the GBPVR functionality on the NMT, first with component and then with HDMI support. In retrospect I feel most users weren't willing to compromise functionality or HDMI support, but I'd like to hear what you have to say.
Although I don't have a MediaMVP-HD, it appears based on a developer's page on their web site, that Hauppauge will openly provide what I need to provide some form of the original PCH mode on their device, but they appear reluctant to provide the detailed information need to go beyond this. I have some concerns because of the unknown player quality. The original NMT player has an annoying 10 second delay but it a robust.
PCH mode has lot of sacrifices (no resume, comskip, OSD) but I preferred the GBPVR interface to NMT's, and based on what I've seen, any interface is better than Hauppauge's.
Veterans and newbies what are your thoughts?
