Remote not working

today I setup a new GB-PVR install and hooked it to a new MVP. I get live tv and the main menu, but basically none of the buttons work. Channel up and down work and the menu button takes me back to the main menu. The guide button briings up just the first row of the EPG in a very transparent way at the very bottom.

Mute doesn't work. if I press 1 1 on the remote to go to channel 11, nothing happens.

To what extent can I use the Hauppauge remote to control GB-PVR? What all works and what doesn't?

If none of the buttons work, how did you get to the TV Guide or Live TV?

If you press the Guide button while you're watching video, it'll bring up the small semi transparent version of the TV guide, which just shows the a couple of rows of the TV Guide at the bottom of the screen. When you say 'just the first row of the EPG', I assume you mean first *two* rows. This sounds correct.

Thats normal. I dont provide a mute function.

You need to press 1 1 OK.

Everything should be able to be control by the Hauppauge remote.

It sounds like your remote is only working intermittantly. Try new batteries.

Not sure, but you might want to look at Tipster's post right before yours about using the beta hauppauge software. It sounds like you have the new 45 button remote (d'oh, I just bought my MVP last week and I got the old one! and his post sounds like it addresses some of those issues.

Not sure about mute, it works for me with my older remote. (EDIT: Guess not according to Sub's pre-emptive post above mine while I was writing this. ;-) I must have been thinking of Pause).

To change channels, you have to push the channel numbres, then immediately push OK. This was answered in another thread on the forum, please make sure to search it first for answers to questions.

Good question. See Tipster's post for some comments, but all in all, I think there needs to be a better interface for configuring buttons both for remotes as well as keyboards. It's hard to figure it all out otherwise. I think there's been some discussion on that front, so we'll see what happens.
