Just trying the NPVR 1.5.21 for the first time, and have a few questions/comments...

1. Is there some way to set the default EPG source when scanning a device? Right now NPVR defaults to the channel EPG, so I have to go in and change every channel one by one to XMLTV.

2. Right clicking a channel brings up the "Details" option, but it doesn't actually open the Details screen. I still have to click the Details button.

3. I can't find a way to set a recording manually? For example, if I want to record channel 2 from 10:15am to 10:18am for testing.

4. Can I still use my old Postprocessing.bat and UpdateEPG.bat batch files from GBPVR? I've put a lot of time into my EPG and show processing procedures that rely on these two batch files.

5. Is there a way to change the number of channels displayed on the TV Guide?

I can answer a couple of these:

Not currently but you can use the "Bulk Map" to do them all in one list without having to view the details for each channel. You can also right click the screen while watching a channel and there is an option to assign an EPG source to the channel.

Anthony Wrote:4. Can I still use my old Postprocessing.bat and UpdateEPG.bat batch files from GBPVR? I've put a lot of time into my EPG and show processing procedures that rely on these two batch files.
Yes. They should be placed in your "[Data Directory]\Scripts folder" ("C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Scripts" by default for Vista/Win7).

Anthony Wrote:5. Is there a way to change the number of channels displayed on the TV Guide?
You can adjust the Skin\Default\TV Guide\Guide.xml to your liking. Somone posted a modified one already but here is mine that shows like 9 channels onscreen.

The manual record function isn't implemented yet.

The process has changed to make it easier for new users without having to worry about finding and setting up an epg - which was too much of a hurdle for many. It will mean an extra step for some users though, specifically analog cable users in north America. All other users have always had map their channels in GBPVR (whether it was doing 'Map Digital channels to EPG Channels', or editing the analog channels numbers with help of TuningAssistant), so not really any less work. In NPVR its optional, they can use their channels without any mapping (getting broadcast or no epg), or they can map the channels to an xmltv epg source.

To map lots of channels, hit the 'Bulk Map' button, and select the mapping by selecting xmltv channel name. (you dont need to explicitly set each channel's epg source to 'XMLTV' - this will happen automatically when you select an xmltv channel)

Ok, I'll check this out. You can double click a channel to open the Details screen.

Quote:3. I can't find a way to set a recording manually? For example, if I want to record channel 2 from 10:15am to 10:18am for testing.
No, not currently. I ill be adding a manual recording option soon.

NPVR will look for those files in C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Scripts, and will run them if they exist. Whether your existing batch files will work unchanged entirely depends on what you were doing in those batch files.

Quote:5. Is there a way to change the number of channels displayed on the TV Guide?
You can tweak the TV Guide skin files to do this.
