I just installed GB-PVR on top of Microsoft Media Center Edition 2005 aand I have a few questions before I dig too deep here.

1) How long is the rewind buffer? i.e.: Can I turn on the PVR and start watching, let's say, channel 13 at 9:00 AM. At 11:00 AM, I decide I want to go back to what was on at 9:00 AM and record that hour-long program. Can I do this just by rewinding back just over an hour - to any point in the 9-10 program - and hit Record and get just that whole one hour program to a recorded file?

2) I can't watch Live TV because when I try I get an error that it can't find hcwIRblast.dll. I have the MCE IR Blaster thingy hooked to my cable box... but I suppose I need something to tell the PVR that it should change the channel. I went to the Hauppage site and they mention something about a new IR Blaster, but there's nothing in the Accesories section where it says it is.

3) I understand I can but something to use as an Extender. I just sent back my two Linksys Extenders because I couldn't get it to play widescreen or 5.1 audio DVD's I had ripped. Can I with GB-PVR and it's extender?

4) How is the performance using the extender? With the Linksys box it seemed a bit slow in rewind, skip, and various other things - and I have a 2.4ghzx machine with a gig of ram.

Thanks for your help!

1) Its a bit hard to describe. Its not a fixed size. It basically records file sized chunks, then deletes the file automatically as you finish watching it (or exit live tv). So if you start watching a three hour show at at 9:00am, then you can anytime up to the end of the show, you can go back as far as 9:00am.

2) It only uses hcwIRblast.dll if you selected that you want to use the Hauppauge IR Blaster. It's not for the MCE IR Blaster. hcwIRblast.dll is Hauppauge file, installed with the Hauppauge PVR150 card which includes an IR blaster.

3) You can use the Hauppauge Media MVP to view programes you've recorded, but it wont support 5.1 or DVDs.

4) Pretty good. Its a little slower than using GB-PVR on the PC, but still pretty good.
