i can't get latest to playback any sd mppg files...can't figure out why...they all play fine in pvrx2, only other thing in common is all mp2, but hd w/mp2 audio plays fine..?

same results 2 machines..
any way to change default demux for non-internal[.ts] types?
[that would probably solve things..]

xp sp3,tried all renderers and decoders..same results on all.everything else works fine tho the interface is slow..[menus] menu performance seems quite heavy...

update: seems they play fine from recordings screen after import, but not in video library...oops, nope, that was an .avi...Sad mpg still no go anywhere..

even on the .avi it thinks the aspect ratio is 3:2? when it's a plain old 720x480 4:3 file...
crazy display rectangle it's trying to setup..
attaching logs to show aspect when playing avi and nothing happens at all when playing nba basketball .mpg file..if i leave it long enough it shows the osdtimeline graphic error in logs..[last thing in log]

If your download and run graphedit, select 'insert filters' from the menu, expand the directshow category, and insert 'File Reader (Async)' and select you .mpg file, then insert the 'MPEG2 Demultiplexer', then drag the output of the file reader to the input of the demultiplexer, does it create audio/video pins on the output?

tried that....no go...'these filters can not agree on a connection. Verify type compatibility of input and output pin."
return code: 0x80040217

works fine with mpc mpeg demux...guess that's why it worked before...
any ideas why?

It sounds these these are either MPEG1 files, or your standard directshow filters are broken on your Window's install.

Where did you get these .mpg files from?

not only that, but rendering mpchc demux output only connects to pdvd7 decoder for some reason...
manually connecting it to ffdshow works fine...but 'rendering' video pin is offering strange results..
nothing seems to work anymore...ever since i updated directx...

Yeah, sounds like you've got broken system issues going on.

it does it on 2 systems?

here's a neat quirk, insert 'mpeg2 splitter' and it works!
on both systems..

i fact, inserting file/async and rendering it's output connects with mpeg-2 splitter, not mpeg-2 demultiplexer..

Could it be caused by some codec pack you've been installing on your machines?

You might be able to work around it by setting <ForceMpgGraph> to false in config.xml, which will let the system use it's preferred MPEG2 demultiplexer/splitter etc, rather than forcing the use of the normally fine 'File Reader (Async)' and 'MPEG2 Demultiplexer'

ahh, that'll probably work..
yep, that did it...Smile
still strange about the splitter..
from what i gather, it's demux for hd and splitter for sd...regardless of audio..

i bet it's keying on the fact that cap card output is actually a dvd format, not plain mpeg2..
