Hi

Ive checked, cant find an answer....

Installed the Hauppauge 2250 card, NPVR sees the QAM (and ATSC) tuners, did a search found 93 QAM channels, doesnt seem to play anything (black screen, however doesn look like its "playing", so cant be sure its not the receiver), how do i debug this?

I dont want to overfix something that isnt broken, i'm not 100% sure the system its on will play MPEG2 (i dont use NPVR on this system, its more a record, then watch that file on another system), however to test i always make sure it will play it, in this case its not.

Ive never used a tuner before (was always composite in GBPVR so never tested this soft of thing).

I have copied the settings to both QAM tuners, the status shows its only plating one tuner, however looks like its not rendering it.

Will give a go at recording then seing if theres video data in that file.

Ive only loaded the Hauppauge drivers (not WinTV7), however as this was for older analog cards and that NPVR sees the card, dont think i need it.

ideas?
Many Thanks
Ashley

found a bug?

Set a manual record today (1 March 2011) for 2240-2250, it says 10 mins, then as soon as i save it, theres no pending recordings, then says it failed, the date on the failed recording is 28 Feb 2011 2240-2250 ??? Clock on this machine is GMT-5

There is such limited clear QAM in Canada I expect the 93 channels you are finding could be encrypted or digital radio (no video).

I also have the Hauppauge 2250 running on Windows 7 64bit, and also use NPVR. Knock on wood, so far I have no issues recording or with playback.

I susspect part of the problem may be with your decoder. Go to Settings and click on decoders. Under the "Decoder" section use the drop down for MPEG2 Video and select 'Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder', and see if that doesn't fix the problem. If not try all of the different decoders untill you find one that works.

I'm pretty sure it'll be one of the two things mentioned above, ie either you havnt gone to the Settings -> Decoders screen and selected your decoders, or you're trying to watch encrypted channels.

Have you tested it with the built-in Recordings screen? It might just be a bug with the plugin you're using.

It listed the encrypted ones (which it didnt add), it also listed the radio ones (cant remember if it added those)... I assume this card wont add standard channels? do i need to get another card to do old channels?
Many Thanks

If by old channels you mean analog, you would need to use the analog tuner. In Canada the local / basic cable tier channels are not broadcast in clear QAM.

To add to that, if you dont see the analog tuner listed, then you dont have the required MainConcept mux installed. See the sticky post.

This is interesting, i wasnt aware it was for Analog, however my "PVR150" fix worked. I read the FAQ on Hauppauge site, it doesnt list the 2250 as doing Analog tuning, however there is something about 1600 which was listed in the 2250 FAQ section.

After adding my PVR150 "fix", it shows up the Analog tuners AND the Composite / SVIDEO stuff as well (as a station in the Analog tuning section), i can add them to the 2 Analog tuner sections, thing is i dont see a "scan" button, do i need to add each station manually or is there a way of adding them all so i can see and test them?

So i assume this means as i have 2 encoders i can have any 2 inputs recording at once as they are all listed twice (i can add the Composite / S/Video to each Analog tuning section as a channel).

Looks good, if only i can see TV on it lol although looks like i need to tune it, any tools for this?
Many Thanks
Ashley
