hiya ive just installed the software and have managed to get it working.

but a. my signal doesn't seem to be good enough, some channels, such as 4 music, viva, just show a blank screen.
I used to get this on my freeview box. until I sorted out my aerial. do you need a stronger signal for npvr?

and b. is it possible to have the program play .mkv and .mp4 files? I think ive installed all the right codecs on my computer.

thanks for your time.

You dont "need a stronger signal for npvr", but the tuner in your freeview box might be better than the tuner in your capture device, so the signal might not be good enough for the device to lock on and deliver good data from.

Yes, you should be able to play these file types in NPVR. The app doesnt play these file types itself, it just askes Window's Directshow to play them, so it is dependent on your having valid decoders and splitters on your machine. If you download the 'graphedit' utility, you can select 'render media file' from the main menu, and select one of your files, then it'll show you which decoders it'll use (for graphedit and NPVR) or tell you if decoders are missing.

If you're using a mouse, you should see a timeline when you move the mouse, and you click on that time line to jump to that location.

Alternatively you press keys like Ctrl-RightArrow to jump forward a minute, or Ctrl-LeftArrow to jump back a minute. You can prefix these with a number of minues, ie 20 followed by Ctrl-RightArrow will jump forward 20 minutes. You can do the same thing on a remote using the skip keys and number keys.
